Who better to ask about the best of design than the staff of Real Living Philippines? In RL's August 2011 issue, they present the Designer 50, a list of lifestyle products, designers, and interiors that the staff members have loved over the years. Some entries are bold and quirky while others are sleek and elegant, a perfect mix for any homeowner seeking design inspiration. Check out one of the staff picks below.

AVELLANA ART GALLERY

Albert Avellana's third gallery in one of the postwar houses within the 2680 FB Harrison compound doesn't only display modern art pieces; it is also functional, as meeting and events can be held there. The whole gallery is arranged like a fully functional house, with living and dining areas, and a bedroom, where artists who meet there can spend the night.

Paintings and sculptures by contemporary artists like Impy Pilapil, Rosario Sanchez, and Solomon Saprid, to name a few, can be found on all two storeys of the house. "I made the rooms more open," says Albert of his space, so guests can freely hop from one area to another to admire the artwork on show. "For now, it's functioning as planned. I see it to be used more not just by artists but [in] more functions, like lectures [and] dinners."
