Built in 1987, this four-bedroom, two-storey house had few windows and a deep floor plan that didn’t let much light into the interiors. After 20 years, the design of the house had become dated and unfit for the owners, who wanted to start a new life for themselves.
The house had a lot of good architectural elements though, such as the stairs, doors, railings, and cornices. The owners wanted to keep these details because they were made of narra, which was already becoming expensive and hard to find.
The owners decided to renovate, and while the process that took seven months, in the end, it was worth it. The old blended with the new, and the result is a light-filled flexible space that is a better fit for the new owners and their lifestyle.
