You know the saying "a dog is a man’s best friend?" Well, we think dogs are girls’ best friends, too! In fact, many times, we prefer our furry pals to men. Why? Here are seven reasons:

1. Dogs don’t cheat.

Dogs are known to be very loyal creatures. Show them you love them and they love you right back. They don’t go out looking for someone else to satisfy their needs. They’re not tempted go home with whoever flirts with them. They’re perfectly happy with just you. You are more than enough.

2. Dogs are always happy to see you.

1
Ever notice how excited your furry friend is whenever you come home? It’s normal for dogs to patiently wait at the door for you, ready to jump and greet you with an energetic bark or wagging tail. According to a study cited in thebark.com, the more intense greeting behavior may indicate a desire to reinstate the relationship. Now, if only your guy were always that excited to see you.

3. Dogs are affectionate, even in public.

Dogs don’t mind hugging and cuddling. In fact, they welcome it! Perfectpuppycare.com explains that dogs enjoy companionship and as pack animals crave affection and attention and are always looking for closeness with their pack.

4. Dogs can tell when you’re sad and will keep you company until you feel better.

Does it seem like your dog knows when you’re sad? According to livescience.com, new research suggests that dogs really do respond uniquely to tears. Researchers from University of London found that dogs were more likely to approach a crying person than someone who was humming or talking, and that they normally respond to weeping with submissive behavior.

5. Dogs are great listeners.

They don’t get exasperated hearing you gripe about work or talk about your feelings. They just sit there and patiently take every word in. Somehow, it seems like they know that all you really need is someone to be there for you.

6. Dogs don’t give us stress.

On the contrary, spending time with your pet can greatly reduce stress. According to WebMD, studies show that animals can relieve stress and improve mood. In fact, pets can even help people with mild to moderate depression feel better.
