If there’s one thing that a lot of homeowners never seem to have enough of, it’s storage space. Whether you reside in a two-storey house or a studio apartment, there always seems to be no room left for your magazines or your DVD collection without making your home look cluttered. To help you make the most of your living quarters, here are a few storage tips to keep in mind:
1. Use open shelves instead of traditional ones.
If you need a lot of shelves to stack your books on, consider installing open or floating shelves instead. They’ll give you the storage space you need without making your room look cramped. On the plus side, you can opt to place a console table below the shelves for additional storage space.
2. Get furniture that can double as storage spaces.
Thanks to a lot of creative designers out there, you no longer have to resort to bespoke furniture just to maximize your space. These days, you can easily find ottomans doubling as storage and coffee tables with sliding drawers in the mall.
3. Attach pegs on the wall.
You might think that small items like car keys, caps, and scarves don’t take up a lot of space, but lump them all together, and you’ll see that they actually do. Save your leftover surface area for other things, and hang these lightweight items instead.
4. Add storage under the stairs.
Make use of the space under the stairs. Adding shelves or a mini closet under the stairs is a great way to maximize your storage space.
5. Store small items under the table.
Need a place for your magazines? Arrange them neatly in a basket and slide the whole thing under your work table. When you don’t have a lot of space, you need to consider every nook and cranny in your home.
