Progress Report: Jaymie mistakenly scheduled her kids’ swimming lessons on a Friday. They were dismayed, since “Freedom Fridays” are reserved for doing nothing after school. But it turned out to be fun after all! During the swimming class, Coach Anthony Lozada fixed Anton’s form, and in just 1.5 hours, his swim strokes improved significantly. Meanwhile, Nia was floating, kicking, and swimming—and enjoyed every minute of it.
In addition to swimming, Jaymie signed up her son for bike training. They headed to Camp Aguinaldo to train with Coach Norman. For the first time, Anton switched from a mountain bike to a road bike. Much to Jaymie’s worry, Anton’s first ride was wobbly, but after three rounds, he looked comfortable, giving Jaymie another proud-mother moment. She also supplemented his training by biking with him on Sundays in preparation for the IronKids triathlon, which happened in October.

Progress Report: Building a safe and healthy home is not just about keeping it clean; it’s about creating an emotionally healthy environment for the family, too. Thanks to last year’s session with life coach Pia Acevedo, Kris learned more about herself and how to be a better person. This made a crucial effect on her parenting style, as she learned how to make her kids feel special and loved. They started creating traditions such as celebrating her kids’ birthdays out of town, which makes for special memories. Kris also makes it a point that she and her husband never miss monumental events such as graduations and other school activities.
It’s important to show how much she loves her kids by saying “I love you” and giving them hugs and kisses. Despite being a self-confessed O.C. mom, Kris has learned to embrace each of her child’s uniqueness and to support them in doing the things they love.

Progress Report: Janice began her lessons on sensitivity and tact with her daughter Reese. They looked back on times when Reese received good words and discussed how it made her feel. According to Janice, positive words cheer people up, give encouragement, and make them feel loved. On the other hand, when used negatively, words could ruin people’s spirits and make them feel inadequate. By being aware of these effects, Janice taught Reese to mean what she says and keep opinions that are not constructive to herself. Teasing friends could be fun, but it could hurt them, too. It was a lesson for Janice as well. Parents should praise kids the right way—by being specific in pointing out what the child is doing right. When correcting behavior, constructive criticism and careful choice of words should be practiced.
