Whether you’re a college chick, a working girl, or a stay-at-home mom, you need a break. And, really, who better to help you forget about your worries than your forever friends, your barkada, your dearest amigas. Get everyone from the A team back together again, and check out some of the things you can do together:
1. Make the ultimate halo-halo.
One of the great things about summer is that you have an excuse to indulge in halo-halo (even chef, author, and TV personality Anthony Bourdain can’t get enough of it). Invite your friends over to your house for this favorite Filipino treat, but instead of buying ready-made ones, make a game out who can make the ultimate halo-halo. Want an advantage? Check out our healthy halo-halo recipe!
2. Attend surf camp.
Be the first among your friends to learn how to properly catch a wave this summer. Head out to Siargao, Baler, or La Union for surfing lessons. Check out FN photographer Mike Dee’s surfing adventure with Cosmo hunk Luke Landrigan at the latter’s San Juan Surf Resort in La Union if you want to know what to expect.
3. Go on a staycation.
Chill out with your friends without stressing yourself out on travel plans, plane tickets, and confusing itineraries. You can stay up all night talking about everything and anything on sheets with a 300-thread count or by the pool with margaritas in hand. Relieve the days when you were still in braces or when Devon Sawa was still a teen heartthrob. If it’s good old-fashioned bonding you want, this is as good as it gets.
