Scientists found that flavanols, a naturally-occuring antioxidant present in cacao, can improve your brain function and lower your risk of developing cognitive illnesses related to old age. Dark chocolate, which is high in cacao, has the highest flavanol levels compared to its milk and white counterparts. A 100g bar of this bittersweet delight contains 53.49mg of flavanols, which is equivalent to the content 74 milk chocolate bars.
So if you're going to give in to your chocolate craving, make sure that you indulge in something dark. Not only will this improve your brain health, but also save you from excess fats and sugar.
