After moving to North Carolina, self-confessed hugger Melinda Schmidt found a way to connect with the people in her new hometown through an extraordinary way. She challenged herself to give hugs to everyone she encountered to recreate the sense of community she missed from her former home. This challenge lasted for an entire year, which she called "365 Days of Hugs." Though her project is long over, she still continues to give away her precious hugs. "I won't ever stop doing this.
