On March 6, 2013, women in various fields of mass media were honored at the 7th Hildegarde Awards hosted by St. Scholastica’s College, Manila. Among the awardees were Jannica Diaz and Nikki Luna of Rappler and Anne Marxze Umil of Bulatlat. Yolanda V. Ong, the multi-awarded head of Campaigns and Grey as well as one of the pillars of the advertising industry, was given a Lifetime Achievement Award in the form of a sculpted trophy created by Maria Magdamit.
Apart from these amazing Filipinas, the Hildegarde Awards also recognized the contributions of organizations, programs, and campaigns that have made a difference in women’s lives. One of these organizations, the Institute of Women's Studies, founded by Sr. Mary John Mananzan, OSB, was also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Hildegarde Awards is named after St. Hildegarde von Bingen, an accomplished and highly influential Benedictine abbess who had been controversially outspoken during her time. She was a visionary whose words and works are as relevant today as they were then.
