The world will be celebrating Christmas in less than two weeks. Despite (or perhaps because of) the frenetic pace of our everyday lives, we should remember to find the time to make sure everyone on our gift list receives the perfect present.
As children, we all participated in the holiday tradition of writing to Santa and asking for that one special gift we would want to get on Christmas day--some of us even listed more than one, ordering these according to priority! We've all had visions of that doll, or that bicycle somehow magically finding its way under the tree and making the happiest time of the year even more festive.
The desire to receive something extraordinary increases as Christmas comes closer. Malls go all out in making sure that the newest, brightest, most sparkly, and prettiest of merchandise are highlighted in the frantic shopping weeks leading up to December 25th.
There are some of us, however, who want gifts that are less tangible: the deadline driven ask for deadline extensions, frazzled office workers ask for leaves to be granted, and parents all over the world will surely ask for a few more hours of sleep. And there are those who take the long-term view, who wish for a job that will let them spend more time with their families (or allow them to be better providers), for people to be more understanding of others, and, yes, for world peace.
Everyone's wishes are different, and the reasons behind them are just as unique. That's why FN wants to know:
