When you were younger, have you ever been told that girls are made of sugar, grace, and femininity? That girls are meant to be lady-like and composed all the time? While there is nothing wrong with those qualities mentioned, it doesn't sum up the AMAZING capabilities of every woman on earth, and it's important we pass on this message to the young girls of today.
From as simple as cutting their long hair during the 1920s to today's ongoing battle of equal paychecks, our history has shown how women fought to be respected and be treated as equals of men. Though we've come so far, there is still a lot of work to be done, especially when it comes to upholding women's rights.
This latest campaign of Nike unsuspectingly shows the real deal about girls. It all starts with a sweet young lady singing a classic song in front of a huge audience. Clad in a silk dress, she appears to be the perfect embodiment of a fine, young lady that society has taught us to aim for. After a few lines, she 'sees' women who push physical boundaries, which then pushes her to tell the truth about what girls are *really* made of: perseverance, grace, bravery, independence, passion, heart, and integrity.
