Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) secretary Mar Roxas announced that, effective August 1, 2012, the terminal fee for domestic flights will be included in air fare. Currently, passengers flying out to local destinations pay the terminal fee upon arriving at the airport.

"This means there will be one less queue at the airport for our passengers," Roxas said.

The DOTC also has plans of implementing the scheme at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in the near future. Roxas shared that a software system funded by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is being set up so that air fares charged by airlines could be bundled with the terminal fee.
