The Philippines—and the rest of the world—is holding its breath as seven-time, seven-division worldwide boxing champion Manny Pacquiao faces Mexican boxer Antonio Margarito on Sunday, November 14, 2010, as they fight for the WBC super welterweight crown. To add more drama to the match, the Filipino boxing superstar comes in as the underdog in this fight because Margarito is taller and has a longer reach.
Margarito’s trainer Robert Garcia predicts the fight will end in the 11th round, Inquirer.net reports. "Knockout, no doubt,” he is quoted as saying. “There’s no other way.” Meanwhile, after watching Margarito train, renowned Filipino boxer Gerry Peñalosa said, “Don’t be surprised if the fight ends early. [Margarito] is slow, made to order for Manny.”
What could be the clincher, however, is the possibility that the fight on Sunday will be Pacquiao's last. His trainer Freddy Roach himself told Yahoo! Sports that he wouldn't be surprised if Manny retired after the bout. "Where else do we have to go? Paul Williams and those 160-pounders?" he is quoted as saying. "I’d be totally satisfied if this were his last fight if he goes out and does what he’s supposed to do." According to sports news site Fanhouse, even Dionisia Pacquiao, his mother, said she would watch the fight at ringside as long as he assured her it would be his last.
