A new warning system will soon be implemented in the United States where cellphone subscribers will receive alerts about missing children, life-threatening situations, as well as "critical national messages from the President." In a report from the Associated Press, the yet-to-be-named emergency alert system will be first launched in New York City and Washington DC, but will spread to the rest of the US over a number of years. The same report says that every wireless carrier in the US is "expected to participate."The Philippines is no stranger to natural calamities and other life-threatening situations. And with the country's three major mobile service carriers all looking for ways to give the best to their subscribers, perhaps this is something that they could look into adding to their list of available services.
