Filipino engineer Jan Benedict Mendoza Fuellas, 36, has been sentenced to four months in jail in Singapore after it was discovered that he had taken 38 upskirt videos (aka view from underneath a skirt) of women at Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations.
Technically, though, Fuellas is just facing jail time for one case. He has many other victims, but, as of now, he is charged for insulting the modesty of one woman.
"A witness was on an escalator at the Bukit Panjang MRT station at about 7:20 p.m. on August 19 last year when he saw Fuellas standing close to the 26-year-old woman clad in an orange dress with his phone on his lap," reports Elena Chong in The Straits Times.
The witness, a 24-year-old Singaporean man, realized that Fuellas was trying to take an upskirt video of the woman. So, he stopped Fuellas and alerted the woman. They both accosted Fuellas and brought him to the control station.
The report noted: "Initially, the station master did not find any upskirt videos but after delving deeper into the file system, he found multiple videos that were encrypted with a password. Upon questioning, Fuellas revealed the password. A total of 38 upskirt videos taken at various MRT stations was extracted from the phone."
Along with Fuellas, another man, IT analyst Lin Weijie, 35, was sentenced to seven weeks in jail for taking videos of women in the fitting rooms of various stores in Singapore.
