Just like most athletes, runners are constantly looking for ways to improve their running performance and aim to beat their personal best. Still, some runners, especially women, prefer to run in stylish shoes, sacrificing comfort and performance for style. Nike understands this perfectly and has created a collection of high-performance running shoes that both athletes and regular Janes could proudly wear.

The 2014 Nike Free collection is the product of Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman's belief that "It's all about the feet – it's not about the shoes." The Nike Free collection is an answer to the concept of natural motion and began with the very first Nike Free in 2004. A decade's worth of technological and product engineering advancements has produced the all-new Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit, Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit, and Nike Free 5.0.

According to Nike's Senior Footwear Design Director, Rob Dolan,: "By utilizing new technologies and the principles of natural motion, we're really able to allow the foot to move for the runner in a way we've never been able to do before."

The design team knew multi-directional flexibility was key to delivering natural motion in a shoe. To achieve this, the 2014 collection features three of the most significant developments in Nike Free since its 2004 launch.

The Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit

The Nike Free collection is made with "second skin" or natural motion technology, which understands that to push one’s potential in running, the shoe should imitate the foot's innate movement of running barefoot while still giving the protection and support that Nike is known for.

The Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit

Check out some of the other features of the Nike Free collection:

1. Flexibility

The outsole features a hexagonal flex-groove pattern which provides multi-directional flexibility and helps the runner’s feet move freely and naturally.

2. Anatomical Shape

The shoe has a more anatomically-shaped heel that's designed to roll as the athlete's foot hits the ground. With the shoes mimicking the shape of the foot, it allows the entire body to move innately.

3. Nike Flyknit Technology

With the use of the Nike Flyknit technology, the shoes are contoured to fit perfectly so that the feet’s movements are not constricted, yet the ultra-light and flexible material provides stretch, support and breathability.

The collection includes the Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit and Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit. These two pairs offer a lower heel-to-forefoot offset that allows one to move naturally and unhindered.

Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit and Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit are available at Nike stores P6,985 and P6,495 respectively.
