Miki Endo is a name that you may not be familiar with. Her name has not come up in any of the news feeds or reports about the earthquake or tsunami that happened in Japan. But Miki Endo is a hero who is credited with saving thousands of lives during the tsunami that happened last March 11.According to this citizen's report posted on CNN.com, Miki Endo worked as an employee in the town of Minamisanriku where she was in charge of disaster management. After the earthquake, she went on air and began to ask residents to evacuate and seek higher ground. She continued to make the announcement even as the tsunami engulfed the building where she worked. And while 10 town employees survived, Miki Endo was not among them.
This clip shows the remnants of the building where Miki Endo made her broadcast. That is her voice we hear; she is asking people to "please, run away fast."
