Taiwanese-American model, violinist, author, and TV host of the Discovery Travel and Living Channel's long-running series Fun Taiwan Janet Hsieh says that "women should support other women."

Says the 35-year old beauty, "I know we always say we want to help our friends, but I feel like, a lot of times we are stopping ourselves, we’re stopping other women from advancing."

No stranger to female solidarity, Hsieh acknowledges that her success is largely due to the women around her. "I am able to [be] what I am because I have such a great support network of women who believe in me and who take care of me and encourage me–and it’s a genuine feeling, that you don’t feel the competition."

Hsieh elaborates that everyone will get a chance in success. "Like if you see another woman gracing a cover of a magazine, that doesn’t mean you won’t get a magazine cover, or if you see a woman in business who’s getting more attention this week, that doesn’t mean you won’t get any attention."

Her tip for women who are working hard to accomplish the things they want in life: "First, be passionate about what you do, and next is, if you can find that thing that you really love to do, surround yourself with strong women you admire and look up to–they will be sincere and will help you."
