viva_glam_mac.jpgMakeup may not be something readily associated with sexual health, but that’s exactly the theme of every MAC Viva Glam campaign.

Every year, MAC Cosmetics picks high-profile and often controversial personalities who are willing to lend their faces and their voices to promote HIV/AIDS awareness.  Leading this year’s GLAM Squad are Lady Gaga—who has been named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2010 —and Cyndi Lauper.

These two high-voltage and influential femmes want to encourage conversation about the kind of relationships women want to have and how to keep them safe, seductive, and satisfying.

In their campaign “From Our Lips,” these two ladies bring together and represent two very different eras in the time of HIV/AIDS and are focusing on an underserved segment in the segment—women.

One hundred percent (100 percent) of sales from M•A•C’s VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass entitled “Cyndi” and “Lady Gaga” are used to fund grants for groundbreaking programs in regions that are not often prioritized by other funders.

As a spin-off of this campaign, MAC will be holding a make-up and sexual health workshop together with Sex and Sensibilities (SAS), a positive sexuality website created specifically for young women.

During the event, participants will be treated to a free make-up class taught by a MAC make-up artist.  Guest speaker Wanggo Gallaga will talk about sexual health, and a representative from Babae Plus, an NGO that provides care and support to the positive community, will speak about being a woman and living with HIV.

“This is the first time we will be doing a workshop with a partner. It was a logical choice to do with SexAndSensibilities.com, who espouses the sale values of MAC Viva Glam—that of empowering women with information to make wise choices,” says Gay Lao, brand manager for MAC.

“Young women listen to other women most when it comes to sexual health and relationships. Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper are role models whose principles and values about self-love are something a woman can relate to at any age,” says Ana Santos, founder and editorial director of SexAndSensibilities.com.

The power of Glam and SAS will come together in the “From Our Lips” make-up and sexual health workshop at 2:00 PM on July 3, 2010, at Rustan’s Makati. To reserve a FREE slot, call or message (0917) 886-4862. Limited slots available.
