Human Nature co-founder Anna Meloto-Wilk has been named the Beauty Industry Woman of the Year Award by Cosmetics Design, a London-based beauty industry publication. The winners will be unveiled formally during the In-Cosmetics Global Exhibition in London on April 4-6, 2017.
Human Nature paved the way for social enterprises almost nine years ago when it introduced natural personal care products and cosmetics to the Philippine market. It, as all other businesses begin, started small. The company, with co-founders Meloto-Wilk and Camille Meloto at its helm, eventually expanded to the business it is today, and many Filipinas have been inspired by the promise of social enterprising. Today, the Philippines is recognized as one of best countries for women social entrepreneurs.
Last year, the local beauty brand also took home the Sustainability Pioneer Award for its social entrepreneurship in Asia.
Paris-based specialist research, consulting, and training firm Ecovia presented the award, one of five, to Human Nature during the Sustainable Beauty Awards ceremonies. The founder and president of Ecovia Intelligence, Amarjit Sahota, praised Human Nature's emphasis on creating certified natural cosmetics from locally-sourced ingredients and providing employment for impoverished communities, which ultimately resulted in the win.
Last week, at the launch of Human Nature's refreshed concept store on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, Meloto-Wilk reaffirmed that "our dream is to unlock the potent qualities of the best of the Philippines natural flora and turn them into world-class sustainable products.:
During the intimate event, the brand urged women to make the "Switch to Goodness" this summer. The initiative helps users choose a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle: from a series of 21-day green challenges to offering big discounts when you switch from a synthetic brand. For instance, bring a clean and empty container of a synthetic counterpart of the featured product at any Human Nature branch and they will gladly give you a discount on their own natural products.
