Jake Cuenca, Enrique Gil, and Diego Loyzaga were among the 40 in-house talents who underwent a voluntary and supervised drug testing conducted by ABS-CBN's talent management arm, Star Magic, last August 27.
Aside from showing support to the government's current campaign against illegal drugs, Star Magic also conducted the said test to help stop rumors of drug use within its community. The talent management later on released an official statement of the results that read: “Results were 100% negative for Jake Cuenca, Enrique Gil and Diego Loyzaga and the rest of the Star Magic artists. Star Magic believes in the efforts of the current campaign to keep our homes and working environments drug-free.”
Although the released statement included artists Jake Cuenca, Enrique Gil and Diego Loyzaga, the names of the remaining 37 artists who took the test were not mentioned.
Earlier this month, there were rumors of a public announcement of names of identified artists and media personalities who are involved in illegal drug use. Robin Padilla, though an avid Duterte supporter, has expressed his sentiments of not being in favor of naming suspected drug users in the showbiz industry, saying that this should be done with caution and discretion. "Sana magkaroon muna ng dayalogo ang mga artista at mga managers sa PNP (Philippine National Police) or kung anumang ahensiya sapagkat ang mga artista po ay tandaan po natin na mga taxpayers din po sila," the action star suggests.
With the administration's campaign, various sectors have made several calls to conduct drug tests in the entertainment industry. Several high-end bar and club owners, some of which are local celebrities, have also reached out and promised to cooperate with the PNP.
