1. "Because no one of us voted for Miss Philippines."
Not everyone felt like celebrating Pia's win. Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek certainly wasn't shy about her opinion, even telling a reporter that she was "really not happy with the result and so are the other girls, I'm sorry to say it." Watch her video interview here!
2. "No problem with return of US bases? Ganon?"
There were also those who raised an eyebrow over Pia's answer about US military presence in the Philippines. "I think that the US and the Philippines have always had a good relationship with each other," she said. "We've been colonized by the Americans and we have their culture in our traditions even up to this day. The Philippines is very welcoming with the Americans and I don't see any problem with that at all." This didn't appear to sit well with some of the nation's policy makers including Bayan Muna representative Teddy Casiño and Senator Miriam Santiago, prompting them to tweet (nicely) about it.
3. "I'm Colombian, but Miss Philippines deserves to win."
What happened to Miss Colombia was truly heartbreaking, but that doesn't mean Pia didn't deserve the crown. Just as there are bashers so are there supporters who are not Pinoy.
