Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago is not likely to let anything, even lung cancer, stop her from doing what she wants to do. According to a report from Inquirer.net, the senator still appeared to be in very high spirits, her reactions to her diagnosis proof that she is just as formidable as before. Here, five reasons why she's stronger than her lung cancer.



1. She takes things in stride.
“Ladies and gentlemen, allow me introduce myself to you as the only senator who has been diagnosed with lung cancer."

2. She embraces the challenge.
“I was very excited. I’m not kidding," said Senator Defensor-Santiago about her diagnosis. “I said: Yes! I got cancer!”

3. If anything, she's even more determined to expose her enemies.
“I don’t know what the reactions of my enemies are. Maybe they will be happy because on one hand I might die and then they could get rid of me. But on the other hand I might survive and then I will get rid of them,”

4. She shows strength in the face of death.
“’I’m not afraid of cancer, there’s nothing I’m afraid of. Because what can I do? God never asked us for our opinion,”

5. She hasn't let her condition change her.
When asked how her husband reacted, she said, “Well, my husband said: Go to the United States, and I said, are you thinking you’re lucky. Ano ka sinswerte?”
