For Filipinos, the holidays known as All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day mean going on a sort of pilgrimage to cemeteries to honor and rememer loved ones who have passed away. However, this also means that these places will be packed with people, and sadly, the solemnity of the occasion is often lost because people rush to get their obligations over and done with.
Even in the days before November 1 and 2, memorial parks will be full of people; flower and candle kiosks spring up around the sites, and food stalls set up shop on street corners in anticipation of the crowds who will be visiting family mausoleums and plots.
