The macaron is edible proof that amazing things come in small packages. One bite from these tiny pastel delights gives your taste buds an amazing gastronomical experience that will have you craving for more. If you're a true-blue macaron lover like us, you might be interested in what Chef Sebastien Cocquery-Beraud, Executive Pastry Chef of The Peninsula Manila, has to say about this lovely little treat. Keep on reading to find out how to make the most of these beautiful pastries.

TEXTURE AND FLAVOR:
A good macaron should have a strong flavor and a beautiful texture. “It should be a little bit crunchy, a little bit chewy right after, and then the flavor should come out. If you have those three things, you’re good,” says Chef Seb.

BEST PAIRED WITH:
Chef Seb recommends you pair your macarons with either coffee or tea for an authentic Parisian dining experience.

SHELF LIFE:
Macarons ideally should be eaten within the day, but if you plan to reserve them for another binge session, Chef Seb says it’s best if you keep them in the freezer instead of the refrigerator. “You’ll need to defrost it first in the fridge, and then you can eat them.”

HOW TO EAT IT:

Relish your macaron by only taking small bites—no need for forks or other fancy implements. Close your eyes while eating it to truly savor its exquisite taste, Chef Seb suggests.

YOU CAN ENJOY IT ANY TIME…
“Chef was telling me before that it’s the kind of food you can have any time of the day because its flavor is not overpowering,” says Timi Nubla, The Peninsula Manila’s Public Relations Manager. “So it’s something that you can eat at any time of the day. You can even have it for breakfast. That’s the beauty of the macaron.”

…OR SAVE THEM FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION.
Yes, you can eat nothing but macarons every day, but Chef Seb believes that the dainty dessert should warrant a special occasion. “To eat a macaron, it must be a celebration… it’s something to share with a friend you like.”
