Food trends are spawned by chefs who purposely drive us crazy with their food hybrid creations. Cronuts ruled last year, but this year, we welcome the churro ice cream sandwich.

When the LA Times raided the Los Angeles Street Food Fest, the FN Team got giddy when we found out that churro ice cream sandwiches were for real! Out of curiousity, we dug deeper on this food trend and found out that this promising food mashup has been rockin' palates since mid-June.

The dessert is made of a dollop of ice cream sandwiched between two flattened churros. This delighful treat is the brainchild of chef Sylvia Yoo, and is currently available for purchase at Churro Borough pop up shops.




If you're wondering on the number of calories you'll get from one serving, TIME reported that one sandwich is equivalent to 410 to 500 calories. It's pretty sinful, but it's not illegal to treat yourself once in a a while!
