Most dog-owners try to teach their dogs tricks. The standard "sit," "stay," and "heel" are almost requirements for contemporary petiquette—people are expected to be responsible for their animals, after all. Some expand the repertoire with "shake," "fetch," "play dead," "roll over," and so forth. But how about getting your dog to dance with you?

That’s what Kate Nicholas taught her six-year-old border collie, Gin, in what’s called canine freestyle. Watch and be just as amazed as Simon Cowell and the other Britain's Got Talent judges were at this pooch’s intelligence and rapport with its owner. The girl-dog dance team sailed through the preliminary editions into the semi-finals, but were edged out by the exclusively two-legged dance group Signature for the final round. Kate Nicholas has since published a book about dog training entitled Kate and Gin.
