Whether you've been cutting back on red meat for health reasons, or temporarily abstaining for the Lenten season, there's no reason for your barkada meetups to be boring and lack any sort of culinary adventure. So if you can make a suggestion, try going for the buffet at Marco Polo’s Cucina.
Cucina is celebrating its “British Invasion” menu, which includes Fish and Chips, Smoked Atlantic Salmon, and Ploughman’s Salad, among others.
For those in an indulgent mood, try their delectable British meat dishes, which include Breaded Porkloin with Rosemary, Shepherd’s Pie, and Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding.
Aside from Cucina, other Marco Polo restos are also serving their own nod to British cuisine. The Connect Louge is offering afternoon tea with scones, as well as Pimm's cocktails. Pimm's is a British gin-based liqueur with bright, refreshing hints of citrus.
Café Pronto, a quiet little nook at the hotel's ground floor, has egg tarts and other pastries, while Vu, Marco Polo's roofdeck bar, has classic gin and tonic.
The British Invasion at the Marco Polo Ortigas will run until March 24. For more details, or if you want to reserve a seat in any of their restos and cafes, head on to their website.
Stil not satisfied? Here are a couple more places where you can get desserts and cocktails:
Mihimihi is a famous bakery hailing from Guangzhou which serves eclair-shaped French puff pastries with different fillings. If you've already been to China and have managed to score a packet of these and loved them, then you're in luck, since they're opening in SM Fairview on March 28 and in SM Megamall on April 28! They'll also be serving fruit and milk teas, so if you've got a sweettooth, that's the perfect combo right there.
A pastry will be sold at P99 a pop.
The Coral Lounge
If you're itching to (literally) salsa the night away, then The Coral Lounge should be your next BFF after-hours destination. ¡Bailamos! Latin Dance Parties will be happening on April 12 and May 10 starting at 9 p.m., and there will be actual Latin dance instructors and a live band to help you get your groove on. The best part? There are no fees! But do yourself a favor by getting one (or five) of the Lounge's cocktails—like the Sunset Boulevard—to complete your evening.
