Just had our initial food tasting yesterday. :) Masarap naman lahat, except for the goat cheese pasta with chorizo, which was too salty for our taste. We loved the beef with Ponzu & Truffle Sauce with Onion Rings and the grilled chicken, tzatziki, mediterranean salad.

We have Meg as our AE, her partner stylist is Nina. Looking forward to our final food tasting, which we plan to schedule on the 2nd week of January. Do you think it will be too late for a Feb 18 wedding? They will not accept food tastings daw kasi the whole month of December up to 1st week of January. And I think it will be too early if we will do it on November. Baka magbago pa isip ko sa styling.

My AE is also Meg and the stylist is Nina din. Our Final Food Tasting will be on November na. Our wedding is January. Yes, they don't accept food tasting during December-January. Same with you I haven't finalized my reception styling yet. But I need to 'cause time is ticking...

All the food we tried on the Initial Food Tasting were great though ang onti lang ng pwede ma try sa Final Food Tasting. Can you help recommend good food so we can minimize our choices. Thank you girls!

Hello.

Newbie here. Wedding will be in Dec 2017 so I'm currently scouting for caterers.

Thanks in advance.

Hi sis adik_chick it depends on the design that you want. They do have basic styling and pag more flowers or complicated design i think you need to upgrade with them. Pero from what they offer mostly all in na yun sa venue. What i advise is have a mood board on hand and send it to them if it can be done on basic packages.

We had our initial food tasting last wednesday. Our AE, Monique, thought that it was our final food tasting that's why she let us choose what will be served, not sure though, she said kasi usually for initial FT there's a pre-selected menu. Haha good thing for us, we got to taste our choices na agad ;)

APPETIZER
> Hoisin crackling pork wrap- So good! Fiance really liked this. It has a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. Good for non- adventurous guests
> Chicken on crisp torilla- This is good din. We won't change this one narin since we liked how it tasted. Perfect balance of everything
> Cheese & chorizo croquettas, pimiento aioli- This is the most BLAH! out of everything we ate that day. This was so wrong. When I tasted it, immediately I was like "Eww. What's this?" Baka that day lang though :/

SOUP
> Potato and leek- Super sarap! Highly recommended!! :) Though if you think your guests won't like the idea of having veggies in their soup, they won't like this.
*next time, we might try Paella soup though since everyone here raves about it :)

SALAD
> Watermelon and feta, citrus dressing- I liked this too! However, my fiance didn't like it. According to him, the dressing, candied walnuts, feta cheese and the greens were perfectly good with each other but with the watermelon, he said it overpowered the taste of everything. For me though, it had the right amount of everything, I liked it. So we just might taste barbecue chicken salad next time

FISH *upgrade
> Baked salmon and shrimp in cream, bed of mashed potatoes, slivered almonds- For me it lacked the taste of... I don't know actually. It lacks something. Though my fiance said, it's good so that it'll balance all the saltiness of the other viands so we might still get this (unless they come out with better dishes for salmon in 2017) :)

SEAFOOD *upgrade/ not in the menu
> Grilled tiger prawns in garlic butter sauce- it was too salty for our taste. We'll get this one parin but we might ask for grilled tiger prawns in lemon butter sauce instead

CHICKEN
> Roast chicken with fennel spice rub, creamed spinach and corn bread- Fiance liked it but we think it just didn't go well with the other food that we had. Parang everything was too 'creamy' na. So we might order roasted rosemary chicken with stuffing, broccoli and cashew salad next time or we'll just say we want roast chicken ala Senor pollo or El pollo loco

PORK
>Pork belly, fig and apple compote, potato puree- this was not what we ordered but we liked it :) we were supposed to get the barbecued baby back ribs but they gave us barbecued beef ribs instead

BEEF *upgrade
> Barbecued beef ribs, corn with tarragon butter, baby potatoes /creamed spinach & corn bread- the sauce was how my fiance imagined it to be, it's just that we ordered barbecued baby back ribs and not beef ribs. So we're definitely asking for that next time and make sure they get the right memo ;)
> Tenderloin in ponzu sauce, truffle butter, onion rings- the serving was really big and really thick! Definitely getting this :)

DESSERT
> Panna cotta with mango- not firm. Not sure if this is how they really make this or it was just that day when we ordered it (But that's the point though, I want to order something that they consistently do right)
> Queso de bola cheesecake- GOOD!! Will order this for sure
> Creme brulee- comments exactly like my comment in panna cotta :-/
> Tiramisu- Not good at all :(

we might get: banoffee cups, mango and coconut tiramisu, bread pudding with sultanas and cream, and croissant pudding with vanilla sauce next time

Regarding styling of KbyC: Initially, we were set on not getting a stylist but upon seeing their designs, I just felt like kulang sya. Like even if I upgraded everything, it still won't match the work of a stylist. Parang not that elaborate. I actually asked Lori how much it'd cost if I upgraded everything, she quoted this much for my pegs: 10k/VIP table (2), 500-1000/guest table (6), 50k ceremony, 3500 cocktail decor, 3500 photowall so all in all additional 83k. Kaya I might get a stylist nalang :)

I hope this can helps! Happy food tasting! :)

^xxtrf, please update us if how much your chosen stylist will quote the pegs you showed KbyC?  I want to have, more or less, an idea on the price difference (upgrade VS hired stylist).  I thought enough na yung basic styling ni KbyC but maybe depende din sa vision ng couple.

I haven't discussed the decors and table setting with them pa kasi hindi pa ko tapos sa reception and church hunting. Thank you. :)

@rouged.ramen: I met with a few stylists already, Love in Blooms (180k), Blooms 2710 (190k), Scenta Creations (225k) and Badang Rueda (250k), I'm set to meet Jo Claravall and Dave Sandoval next week. I might meet with Teddy Manuel just to get a grasp of his works and him as a person (and personally know why it's THAT expensive. Haha!) For sure it'll be higher than ones mentioned. Hahaha! But this already includes garden ceremony, entourage and bridal bouquets, entrance decor/tunnel, cocktail area, coffee/juice bar, photowall, registration and cake tables, ceiling treatment for my tent, VIP/ guest's tables and couples backdrop.

I made a computation, with upgraded styling from KbyC (~85k) + entourage and bridal bouquet from another supplier (35k) + ceiling treatment from another supplier (40k)=160k. I have to spend that much on styling alone that I believe will still not be as elaborate as getting a separate event stylist who's job is just to provide flowers and style the event. I was actually torn before but I really decided to get a stylist instead since I read reviews that styling of KbyC is always kulang in terms of 'dami' :)

Lots-o, sorry I wasn't able to get back to you. Got very busy with the church hunting and reception venue. Last Saturday lang kami nakapag-book ng church and the week before that the reception venue kaya hindi ko maasikaso yung mood boards ko for KbyC to quote for the the table setting.

Based on what I gathered from KbyC brides-to-be, decent naman daw prices ng upgrades ng KbyC and competitive if ico-compare mo from hiring a separate stylist.

One bride spent 3k per table for a tall glass vase with cascading white orchids but she didn't get it from KbyC kasi maliit daw orchids ata na pinakita sa kanya so she got it from another stylist but same lang ang price nila ni Kbyc which is 3k.

Another bride spent 23k for the upgrade for their long tables, here's her explanation:
"2k per long table (ordinary guests) then 4k for VIPS. Only 3 ordinary guest long tables may flowers, 3 others puro succulent  and garlands. all others no plants at all."

Their theme is Harry Potter kaya minimal flowers.
Better ata talaga to show your pegs to them and they will quote based on your chosen flowers and decors. Hindi ko pa lang magawa ito kasi wala pa kami hotel, P/V, dress designer and L/S.

Their rectangular tables daw are in 2.5ft x 6ft but when I asked if how many persons can this table accommodate, ang sagot niya is 12, 14 or 16 persons. When I did the layout based on the given dimesion, 6 persons lang pwde. So I'm guessing dikit-dikit lang itong 2.5ft x 6ft rectangular tables to come up with a long table arrangement.

^ok lang sis, may importante pa yung mga inaasikaso mo ngaun thanks for your reply, I have sent the pegs na and im still waiting for her reply. Im crossing my budget with her will fit. Ayoko na magoverboard dun.

lots-o, our food tasting was great. Before kasi sabi nila hindi ganun kasarap yung mga choices sa initial food tasting, but from our experience masasarap naman halos lahat.
This was the menu that was served to us:

Appetizers:
Seared tuna on crisp tortilla, arugula, caramelized onions  - this one we knew masarap talaga, because we tasted it before
Korean tacos - not a fan of kimchi kasi, but it tasted good
Portobello fries, wasabi cream - hindi ko din gusto wasabi, but very light lang yung taste kaya ok sa akin.

Soup:
Broccoli and cheese soup - very creamy, we both loved this one. we will get this for our wedding
Paella soup - too salty for us at mabigat sa tiyan. feeling ko eto pa lang mabubusog na yung guests

Salad:
Romaine, salted egg, cherry tomatoes, cashew, tinapa aoli - this one is different, creamy yung taste
Watermelon and feta salad citrus dressing - refreshing yung taste nya, we will get this, though my fiance loved the romaine salted egg, since very creamy na yung soup namin.

Main dishes:
goat cheese and chorizo pata - this one is an upgrade, we didn't like it. very salty.
Baked fish in cream, bed of mashed potatoes, slivered almonds - ok lang. ordinary. we will ask another dish during the final food tasting
Grilled chickenm tzatziki, medditerranean salad - it was good, we will get this also as our chicken dish
pork belly, red chimichurri, creamed corn - this one i really loved, parang lechon kawali in a bed of creamed corn, but we decided to not get this kasi then most of our dish will be creamy in taste. :( and we plan to have lechon served din during the wedding
slow cooked beef ponzu, truffle butter, onion rings - the best dish that was served to us

Rice:
carrot rice - parang steamed rice lang

Dessert:
croissant pudding, vanilla sauce
mango and coconut tiramisu
coffe panna cotta
selection of cakes

all of their desserts were good. we will probably get the croissant pudding, coffee panna cotta and 2 cakes

Exctited na kami sa final food tasting, which we scheduled this november 23. I will send Nina my pegs for the reception next week. Hopefully hindi masyado pricey ang upgrades. :)

Our wedding is on Feb, supposed to be January pa nga yung final food tasting namin. But we decided to have it this November para hindi na kami ma toxic a month before the wedding. We will have our reception at Blue Leaf McKinley. :)
