and i don't get the singaporeans hatred for the filipinos. dahil lang ba sa poor attitude at naaagawan sila ng jobs kaya natutuwa pa sila and likened what happened to us to God spraying baygon on cockroaches. grabe, napaka-walang puso ng nagsabi nun. meron pa nagsabi na waiting to hear from the news that "there are no survivors". racial discrimination pa ba yun o talagang wala lang silang kaluluwa. and to think that their major complaint is filipino's lack of proper manners. sila, they lack values.

the beauty of having have left the Philippines is now i can objectively see who I am. sabi nga nila, sometimes to know yourself, you better get out.

Yes, in general may attitude problem ang karamihan sa atin. marami pa talaga masasabi. on the other hand naman, Singaporeans, a lot of them, have grown to be arrogant. ibang generation na kasi, mga bago na yan at hindi dumaan sa hirap. yung mga nagtayo ng bansa nila ay matatanda na. Singaporan elders are more down to Earth due to their experiences, frugal sila and honest.

pinaka maganda talaga, is for Pinas to stand up, at magpakayaman.

 here's the personal account of the brave and helpful young lad:

i wont be posting my whole experience as theres always some people who think they know better. But i do want to make things clear so you would have an idea what its really like being there.

1. Tacloban prepared for Yolanda, to say that they didn't because of the their casualty number is a bit disappointing. They had families already relocated in designated evacuation centers even before the storm it was just sad that those places were destroyed as well.

2. Dont go on thinking you know better by saying they should have left the seaside. Im not enitrely sure but even near the heart of the city there are sandwiched cars my guess is the water went as far as there when it hit.

3. Step down your high horse from time to time. Dont be so quick to judge looters, i was looter. I looted medecine for the red cross, milk and food for the children. Walked 4 hours and dug into 2 foot empty plastic bottles to get at least something to drink and bring back some. The people who took flat screen tv's were the same people who offered to give me a drink and some lugaw. Those who looked like ex-convicts offered me something to eat. Almost all the time they are willing to lend a hand when you said you really need something. What they didnt show on the news was how people were helping each other amidst the catastrophe.

4. These tv personalities and politicians majority are a piece of s***. Mar Roxas and his body guards never helped us retrieve families trapped on the cottages on the hotel that we were staying or assisted in helping the wounded. They just walked around clean tidy as if they couldnt be bothered. Ted Failon ate a hearty meal while some children barely had anything to eat and slept in comfy beds while children slept on marble floors. Love Anover panicked and asked us to go downtown to get military assistance like they were someone special. You dont hear those on the news do you? its all about what was recorded on the shot.

5. It might look like chaos i guess thats what they want to show you, but there are police patrols, i personally went to the police station and ask about the rumors of hostility, they told us that its not true as they have not received any news about it. dont think for once that they are not doing their jobs, their manpower is spread so thin why? Because some of them are dead.

6. Dont for once think that everyone hungry is hostile. Dont you dare think like "oh im trained, oh i have seen this happen somewhere, oh its going to happen here" its not a movie. People just want someone to talk to, hear their story ask them how they are, i found out that listening to what they have to say helps them and it helps you.

7. There are no zombies. You can talk to the people sometimes you would be surprised as to how they can help and how much they are willing to help.

8. No one is special. You might have the best training, equipment, plans or what have you. At the end of the day youre one of them, you are in the same situation as them, to think otherwise. Is i think quite foolish.

9. To think its always going to be this way is foolish as well. Im counting 3 to 4 days if relief and resources cant make it, it will be chaotic.

10. Ego is useless.

The more you find, the less you lose... find something in each person that you meet.

I am no expert, again theres going to be someone here who has tons of things to say because of his knowledge or expertise. This is what i experienced, im not a victim nor a survivor, but for 5 days i was a citizen of Tacloban, and they deserve better.

That's some good news.  Its nice to know that even in the midst of tragedy, people from affected areas manifest admirable kindness among their fellow victims. Nakakatuwa at mas lalong nakakainspire tumulong.

Mga sisses, may mga buses na sa Pasay na Samar, Leyte and Biliran-bound, you may find them beside the BLTB station. Just informing dun sa mga ready pumunta sa Eastern Visayas region to fetch their loved ones from there pero walang budget to ride a plane.

I purposely avoided watching the news and looking at pictures online because hearing the news on the radio alone brings devastating images to my head. My family planned on dobating decent clothes and food but decided to donate money instead kasi the orgs know exactly what to buy. Medyo nakaka-sad din yung handful of comments from other people from other countries na "What does that typhoon have to do with me?", "Who cares?", "These poor people deserve it". Pero outnumbered yun ng compassion from the rest of the world.

noong nag tsunami daw sa japan, day 2 wala na daw dead bodies na makikita. mabilis na naayos ang mga dead bodies pero sa nangyaring bagyong Yolanda dito sa atin day 5 na marami pa ring dead bodies na nagkalat. hindi kasi maayos ang pamamalakad ng gobyerno natin. puro kasi mga corrupt. iniisip lang nila mga sarili nila. sobrang nakakalungkot itong nangyaring ito sa bansa natin. patuloy natin ipanalangin ang mga taong naging biktima ng kalamidad na ito. at patuloy tayong tumulong sa kanila hanggang sa makabangon ulit sila.

My friend's 3 female cousins are stuck in Tacloban. He was in contact with 1 female cousin muna na may cellphone. Their grandparents died so mag-isa siya. Buti nahanap ng cousin na yun yung 2 other female cousins pa. Worried yung friend ko kasi sa airport natutulog yung mga pinsan niya. 2 of them are teenagers (12-16 years old) while yung isa 20 years old. Salitan sila matulog sa different parts ng airport kasi natatakot dahil puro babae sila. They can't ride the plane kasi may need daw bayaran. Wala ngang pera ang mga bata dahil nawash out ang house at namatayan pa. May 'priority' din daw kung sino makakasakay. I asked a former co-worker for help kasi she will go to Tacloban with her dad who works with the mayor. Magdadala sila ng meds. Thankfully, nakapagbook ng flights for them yung friend ko. Ang prob nalowbatt ang phone ng cousin niya so he doesn't know how to inform them na may flights na sila bukas. Sigh. Watch yung report ni Anderson Cooper. Nakakaawa mga kababayan natin dun. Hindi alam sino hihingian ng tulong. Nagugutom at nauuhaw na. Ang mga dead bodies nakakalat pa endangering the health of the survivors. I hope magising na ang government officials. Saan na ba yung donations?

Sana dineclare niya nalang na state of emergency. Mas visible pa yung tulong galing US, yung mga donations galing sa private sectors at galing sa ibang bansa. A lot of us donated money, food clothing etc., pero utang na loob naman gumalawgalaw ang gobyerno natin para mabilis mapaabot ang tulong...

Just to add, pwede namang ipadala yung mga military men natin dun di ba para matakot kung sinumang haharang sa relief operations.

ang daming areas na hindi naaabot ng tulong. nakakaawa na yung mga tao dun.  nabasa ko online na yung policemen daw sa palo, leyte missing. madaming policemen and military ang namatay din during the storm surge.  yung mga local officials di rin makapagfunction kasi biktima din sila. nawawala din ang relatives or namatayan din.

Nature showed how small man is sa mundong ito. Heard on the news na baka daw abutin pa ng one year to restore yung electricity sa affected areas since almost wiped out sila. That's just awful.

Share ko lang - my friend who's in London was asked by his co-worker, "Your country is religious, right? Why did God allow this to happen if that's the case?" He simply answered, "Because He will not give us anything we cannot bear."

I have no doubt that this nation will rise above Yolanda. Slowly but surely. Sana dito na lumabas yung pagka-Pinoy ng mga tao.

Yung news about the typhoon, nakakaya ko pa panoorin kasi andun na yun, it happened na, natural calamity wala tayong magagawa... Ang hindi ko matake yung napapanood sa tv na after 5 days hindi pa din naabutan ng vital supplies yung mga tao, and worst madami pa din dead bodies i.e., 1 bata patay sa harap ng munisipyo as per noli de castro's news. Another thing, nagkakaron na ng exodus, syempre anywhere but leyte ang lakad ng mga tao. Nakakalungkot lang isipin na they will be displaced, pupunta sa lugar na wala silang kakilala i.e., 2 dalagita na nakisakay sa mga militar at napadpad na lang dito sa manila...anong mangyayari sa kanila
Bago pa dumating yung mga "tulong" na sinasabi ng gobyerno, nag-alisan na yung mga tao...

Napanood ko yung snippets ng interview ng cnn kay pnoy, at nakakadisappoint ang mga sagot nya... i think obviously pati yung cnn anchor mas disappointed din. Sya ang presidente, he should do everything, as in everything in his power na tulungan at iprioritize ang mga tao dun.

Sis, yung State of National Calamity is different from State of Emergency. Eto yung sina-suggest ni Mayor Duterte.

I agree that State of Calamity is not enough. State of emergency ang kailangan for everyone, even us, to move; but I don't think PNoy will do this due to his family's history with Marcos. If he knows how to exercise his powers right he will never abuse anyone's rights.

With this he can enforce his powers to stop normal businesses or variety shows to run for a while and force us all to do humanitarian efforts. Or even stop all governmental activities, convert the legislative and judiciary branches to executive for a period of time while forcing us all to govern our own areas so that ALL of the officials will do their work there.

It's already a catastrophe down there! Can't his country go first before his family matters?

Haaaay. If I see PNoy gusto ko talaga syang batuhin ng bulok na itlog. Time is ticking, people are slowly dying there. Kumikilos nga ang government natin but it's NOT enough. >_<

^ I believe I already posted some concrete recommendations on that earlier post, which is a more detailed view of Duterte's recommendations, kapatid. The state of calamity declaration only hastens the flow of funds and relief goods to the region (which is not happening due to various reasons), and implements price freeze. It's not enough.

Fukushima was under a state of emergency after the tsunami. Louisiana was also under a state of emergency during Hurricane Katrina.

Like I said, time is ticking and people are slowly dying. Sorry, I just feel irked about the current situation.

Well, State of National Calamity has been declared few days ago and remarkably, nothing has improved. IMHO din po.

There's nothing to be sorry about sis. Our countrymen are continuously suffering. That should be an enough reason to question the government. Even the international media was asking PNoy regarding the lack of efforts given to the typhoon victims.

And when he was asked kung anong implication nito sa kanyang presidency (something like in this line of question), he only emphasized na people were warned before it happened...duh, hindi nya nasagot yung tanong. Inaasahan nya ang  LGU's, eh kahit sila nasalanta din.

I'm aware of that. What I stated was "national emergency"

Pasensya na ha, we can't help but notice his leadership during these crisis(Zamboanga, pork barrel, recent earthquake and this). We want to see a leader who can stand by his people, at yung hindi nag wawalkout pag napikon. That's just my opinion.
