i've taken Krav Maga before its just alright. the principles behind it are found in other arts. it was after all synthesized by a martial artist.
I've heard dodgy things about Krav Maga in the Philippines. I will not comment further on this.
as for learning how to shoot, you'd have learn this somewhere else.
iba ang real world. real world opponents are battle proven. hard bodied strong willed and intelligent individuals.
pag maraming may kaya sa school or commercialized na, medyo i avoid na. gusto ko yung training na first day pa lang mahihirapan ka na talaga. because the real techniques, techniques used in the streets, wars, in mindanao, by our grand fathers and so on, require serious strength and conditioning and are very brutal.
encountering a properly schooled arnisador for example, who punches bags filled with gravel and sand; who can swing heavy lead pipes with lightning speed, is scary. this i learned when i left the comforts of my up bringing and started training with the masses- drivers, current/ex military/police SF, security guards, low profile arnis teachers/masters...
training with low profile masters i opine is better. why? because the techniques are pure. they're simple. yung mga sumisikat na arts, nagiimebento na lang yung master para may maibenta at ma retain ang students.
simple lang ang real techniques kasi noong araw, walang gaanong time to train. you just have to keep on training and keep on bring your physical condition to a higher level. para should something happen, kahit hilo ka na at disoriented, lalabas ang training.
then shooting takes it to a whole new level. they had me shoot while running, shooting prone & supine. close up shooting, malfunction drills, shooting with one hand, then with the less dominant hand (with racking and malfunction drills as well..), shooting in a crowd, shooting in pairs.. etc..
sa una masaya, pero pag sumakit na kamay mo sa kakaulit ng kaka kasa, bunot, etc...hindi biro na.
