^thanks po sa advice! kinakabahan na rin ako sa patho, micro at lalo na sa pharma eh.. Sabi nila wag daw ako mag alala sa patho but then mas ok na rin yung hindi magpabaya kesa sa natatakot in the end.. Planning to read some notes from upperclass this May para kahit papaano may idea na ako.. Di kasi ganun kaganda yung premed ko kahit mataas grades ko nung premed. Di related eh haha.

And really, prayers ang bestfriend ko ngayon. Ang daming time na nadown ako sa first yr, pero buti na lang yung church ng school, nadadaanan ko pauwi ng dorm so stay muna ako para mag isip isip.. I'm also participating sa mga medical and surgical missions ngayong bakasyon since wala naman akong gagawin, mas ok na ring may purpose ang bakasyon ko.. Hay. Inspired ako ngayon, sana tuloy tuloy to thanks sis! Magpopost ulit ako dito kapag may mga bago at kapag may tanong ako sa inyo

^samantalahin mo ang vacation ako. this is my very last summer vacation before clerkship. Anong gamit nyo na book sa Pharma, is it katzung or goodman and gillman? Mas nahirapan ako sa Pharma kaya un ang tinutukan ko. Ang book kasi sa Patho, which is robbins, although napakarami ng sinasabi, madali intindihin. Mas better pa din if you read the books than relying on the trans. kadalasan kasi kulang kulang un content ng trans eh. Sa micro naman, purely memorization. say hello to staph, strep and friends  
tama ka, sa medicine, hindi lang dapat magrely sa talino at sariling kakayahan, dapat malakas ka din magdasal lalo na sa exams. Its much bearable for me to accept un mga outcome ng grades ko after magdasal re: exams, un tipong, God, I have done my part, now I leave it all up to you, take charge of my exams, and then He'll bless you with the grades that you were praying for

^katzung kami sa pharma PERO sabi nila wag na daw mag book dahil mas ok yung ibibigay na handouts. May ibibigay daw saming handouts eh.. Robbins din yata kami sa patho, nakalimutan ko na.. Talagang pag kulang sa kapit sa dasal, may chance madepress talaga eh. Talagang last year ako "nayanig" and i cannot do anything but pray eventually nakalma naman ako.. Amd for the grade conscious, ok pa din maging grade conscious pero minsan kelangan tanggapin na minsan mababa talaga.. Alagaan lang lagi yung grades, magiging ok naman thanks sis sa tips! At least alam ko na kung paano ako magstart mag aral

^kung may budget, books talaga but ebooks gamit ko now except sa mga mababasa ko talaga lagi.. Imagine, my books are worth 60k :/ di pa kasama yung pang second sem na semestral subjects

^yes sis sobrang mahal. i can buy 2 ipad minis with the book cost. and actually that total cost is actually minus my microbiology book which i already had from undergrad. so i'm really thinking of just buying a tablet. haaay. i'm all books last year pero ngayon woah i need to regroup. though i'm thinking having a lot of thick big books is part of being a med student. so di ba? ugh still cant decide. 
tapos kami kasi, we have transes. pag malapit na exam puro trans na lang inaaral ko. haha!

^sis, what i do minsan, per chapter ako nagpapaprint kapag nahihirapan ako sa topic, less than php1 lang per page tapos book bind after every shift or sem kasama na yung trans at handouts na nakaayos na per topic. Kami din eh, puro trans lang saka handouts kapag mabait yung department. Haha anatomy at neuro lang binilhan ko ng books. Haha buti din yung ibang books meron ako from undergrad

Edit: if really may budget, bili na ng books. Or paisa isa. Kung saan mas excited na subject yun tao, yun unahin bilhin kung kulang sa budget pero ok din may ebooks para pagpasok sa school di mabigat yung bag.. Pang bahay lang yung books haha

During our time, hindi pa uso ang e-books. Thus, we used the actual physical books plus transcribed notes from upper batches & other sections. Another option, photocopied pages from a book from the library. I am able to make highlights on my book/s, underline &/or encircle must-know details, jot down important side notes & place stick-on notes (or those flag-lets). Mas naaalala ko yung details & nagiging fulfilled yung pag-aaral ko. In preparation for exams, mas mabilis na lang ang pagreview ko since may marks na. Even during our review for the local board exams, actual books (photocopied nga lang) pa rin ang ginamit namin.

When I try to download e-books, hindi ko na na-o-open yung file. If I do, sumasakit mata ko kaagad, or I get bored. Chances are, hindi ko rin maaalala yung nabasa ko (kung mayroon man ako nabasa, Haha!).

Right now I prefer e books.  It's been a decade since I've been out of med school and back then we used paper textbooks.  I like to make notes and highlights, now that ebook platforms
Could do this I am definitely leaning towards electronic.  I like that I'm able to take my electronic library everywhere I go, which is especially useful when I travel so I don't have to lug around heavy books.
Dropbox integration is a staple for me, even journal articles, PowerPoint lectures I have are all electronic.
Amazon has a food collection of textbooks and some can even be borrowed, haven't tried borrowing yet.  Most times the ebook versions are less expensive.   Haven't asked the med students about this but it looks like the school followed Stanford's suit..

i prefer physical books rather than ebooks. mas gusto ko na ako mismo nag h highlight ng books/photocopies

Graduated from residency training this month.  It's been an unbelievable journey that I'm sure
will continue through my transition to an attending.  Looking forward to practicing 'in the real world'.

^^congrats po! nag eenjoy ako ngayon sa second year. Kelangan lang talaga bgyan ng time ang pharmacology pamatay kasi. Hahaha!

Hello mga sis, nalulungkot ako kasi matagal na akong nililigawan ng tita kong doctor na pumasok sa med school pero nagbulakbol ako.. Ngayon nagsisis ako kasi nagising nako sa katotohanan na eto pala ang talagang gusto ko. Willing siya mag finance ng schooling ko and all... The problem is, I'm turning 29 na next year.. Is it too late mga sis? Ilang taon na ako nun pag nag residency and all.. Hay enlighten me please...
