^Try moving on to red meats: pork and beef with some fat on it to help the skin condition. Dogs do better on red meat. You could also give him one to two fish oil gel capsules a day.

There's a group on FB dedicated to raw feeding. It's where I got all my information on feeding raw, and it might help you out as well.

Just search for Raw Feeding on FB.

Also, two months is a fairly short time to see results. Try waiting it out for six months.

Thanks.  When you feed pork or beef, do you give it straight from the freezer or do you defrost it?  With chicken, i place one week worth of chicken in the chiller section.  When i give the chicken to my dog, it's thawed already.  I'm not sure if i can do the same with red meat.

I feed frozen. It slows them down so they don't wolf down their food and potentially choke. When I first started (with chicken muna for two weeks), I used to thaw the food first to get my dogs used to tearing off the flesh. Then when they got used to raw, I switched feeding frozen.

Ideally, it's better to feed big food and store what's left in the fridge for the next feeding, but since I have two dogs and a small fridge, I portion my food and freeze them in weird shapes so that the dogs have to work at it.

What I do is portion off the food and store them in sandwich-sized ziploc bags so I can just take out a couple of bags come feeding time. No need to thaw.

Thanks.

hakunamatata, yes anything raw that came from an animal pwede, even bones and organs kasali.
recipes that include raw veggies and fruits is under the barf diet, this diet is different from pure raw diet. I use whole prey or franken prey model, no veggies and fruits, just meat, bones and organs. After doing my research, I became a firm believer that dogs are carnivores so hindi ako nagbibigay ng raw veggies and fruits pag raw feeding. Why? Bec. plant matters and meat digests at different times, mas matagal madigest ang plant matters so pwedeng magkaron ng stomach upset pag pinagsabay sila. Another issue pag may veggies and fruits is that hindi nagiging strong ang acid levels sa tummy nila, so mas prone sila sa parasites pag nakabarf.

I've also asked some rawfeeding experts, hindi rin nila nirecommend ang barf due to same reasons and experiences. at sa aking observation, dogs cannot digest plant matters properly, pag nagpoop andun pa rin. They need to be pulverized for easier digestion bec. dogs don't have enough digestive enzymes to break down plant walls. Whereas pag pure meat, bones and organs madali nila maprocess at minimal ang poop. Walang trace ng kinain kahit bones nadidigest nilang mabuti, except for newbies, nagkakaron ng bone bits sa poop and vomit.

In my experience, veggies do not clean their teeth but chewing bones and meat can help. What I did was I gave him beef ribs for 30mins within 3 days, ayun biglang luminis ang teeth. He is turning 4yo this May btw.

Ang feeding depende sa age nila and kung newbie or sanay na. Pag 1-6mos usually 3-4x per day, 7-12mos pwede ng twice daily then pag adults okay na kahit once/day. Pero yung mga adults na newbies split into 2-3 meals kasi pag binigla nagcacanon butt sila-a term for scattered/diarrhea like poop hehe.

You have to read about dog's anatomy and origin para malaman yung reason bakit hindi nila need ng veggies, fruits and carbs. Raw feeding needs a lot of research so read as much as you can and wag basta maniwala sa mga claims. napakainteresting nitong topic, you will learn alot from this diet  :)
feel free to pm me, I will gladly help those who are interested :)

Dogs are not pure carnivores. Cats are.

Why most people in the medical field are anti raw feeding: usually it is due to salmonella contamination, the fear of nutritional imbalance and loss of profits.

if we have enough and proper knowledge about raw feeding, we cannot be thrown off easily with articles on the net. there are links posted in this topic, anyone can backread for more information. i can also send links if you want to join raw feeding groups :)

this diet requires a lot of research, time, effort even money, and a lot of scare tactics are used because of the fact that very few are aware about doggie nutrition. and for so many years, we are used to feeding commercial dog food, usually due to convenience and financial reasons, that's why this diet is a new topic for some. Sad to say but we are brainwashed by the dog food company but if we will go back to our pet's anatomy, common sense will tell us that fresh and unaltered food is the best diet for them  :)

before dumating ang aso ko never talaga pumasok sa isip ko na mag dogfood siya mainly because processed masyado.
kahit na noong di ko pa naisipang mag alaga ng aso. compare dogfood at homecooked, prefer ko parin ang homecooked. so nag research ako ng ideas about raw feeding and since mas convenient ang rf, so doon ako. walang amoy ang poop, walang amoy ang aso ko, amoy-aso lang, lol

Yeah, I like that about feeding raw. My dogs can go a whole month without baths and they don't stink. Dirty, yes, but no stink.

i couldn't agree more! we can easily tell who's on a raw diet by the way they smell. dog food eaters stink within days after bathing. yung iba kahit anong paligo, di talaga bumabango haha! but because of raw feeding nakatipid kami sa water and grooming bills :) i wish more people would open their minds, ang daming against about this diet, di pa nga nila natry ::)

I'm on day 5 na. Kaya lang di kasi ako nagbasa before magstart. Basta I fed him agad pork cubes. Gusto nya naman. After reading nalaman ko na dapat may bones and ideal sa chicken mag start then introduce variety.  Kaya lang I started na with pork so ayun  namili ako ng ribs. Ayaw nya kainin. What I did was spread boiled liver. Yun kasi nakasanayan nya with dog food. Eto sya ngayon, nginangatngat yung ribs.

happy raw feeding!

Sis abu, yung boiled liver kasi, dati na nyang food yun with the kibbles, kaya yun yung hanap hanap nya. Unti untiin kong tangalin and iinitin ko ng onti yung meat. Di ko sya pwede tiisin now, may rashes kasi sya from the ticks and fleas, so ginagamot ko pa skin nya. I want him healthy muna before ko sya gamitan nung 15min rule.

Yes of course! I was gearing on how to feed the bones, kasi yun yung ayaw nya. But I tried yung few seconds cooking to release the aroma, effective naman. Hahaha! Then we tried na chicken kagabi, seems like mas gusto nya. Maybe because mas madali ngatngatin yung buto. Mukhang tamad kasi mag chew tong tzu ko. hehe... Next week will be fish naman.

Excited. Di nga sya mabaho dati kasi 2x a week sya bath. Now sched nya na for bathing, pero ang bango nga pa din.

kabes, some dogs are just clueless with raw meat, lalo yung nasanay sa dogfood, iba kasi ang texture and scent. Kailangan lang ng onting motivation, pwedeng ilure sila by shaking the meat.

When offering a new protein, make sure na 1 week firm ang poop sa old protein. Then offer the new protein gradually, iba-iba kasi tolerance nila sa meat.
