Baby Car Seat, maganda and comfy?

^Got our Mothercare Seville convertible car seat (rear- and forward-facing) for around P5K. It was on sale then. Check out Mothercare; meron silang sale ngayon.

Marami akong nakikita na nakakalong lang ang baby at akap akap ng braso pag nasa kotse.  Nakakatakot. Kasi on an emergency,  maaring mabitawan ng kumakalong yung baby.

Agree. At kung walang/wala pang car seat, please don't ever let your child sit/karga-karga in the front seat. That's dangerous.

Yung car seat namin, sa baby company namin binili. Baby 1st yung brand. Okay naman sya. My daughter is now 16months old. She sits alone at the back of the car. Para sa akin kase mas comfy sila at mas safe. She plays, sings, and watches mickey mouse during our trips. Mas nagiging independent sila.

kami rin Baby 1st yung brand, color red. kakabili lang namin yesterday kasi hindi nya sya comfortable sa infant car seat, plus lalagpas na sya sa weight limit nung infant car seat nya (baby 1st din).

Was going to get the Mothercare Madrid but wasn't too keen on it when I saw it on demo at the store. I liked the Mothercare Sport naman but then we realized the backseat of the car only has lapbelts...hay. Any suggestions for a newborn to toddler carseat thats affordable and can be used with lapbelts?

The cosco scenera mentioned before can be used with lap belts only but rear facing lang.  For front facing you can still use the lap belt but you have to tether the top of the seat.  There is also an Evenflo Triumph advance sa metro market market that can be used with lap belt only RF (sana andun pa) for 10K.  It's more expensive but the weight rating is higher (5-40 lbs rear facing, and 22-50 lbs front facing).  If it's newborn to toddler car seat, you need a seat that can rear face pag newborn pa ang baby.  Or you can do online shopping and get a seat that is less than $100 (Evenflo Titan,  Maxi Cosi Priori on sale) and ship here through pobox or if you have relatives in the US, have the car seat delivered to their address so they can ship through balikbayan box shippers. Depending on the size of the car seat box, shipping shouldn't be more than $100.

The mothercare sport is a front facing only seat suitable for 20-40 lbs so it's not advisable for newborn.

^The SA must be misinformed. Buti na lang di pwede sa lapbelt lang otherwise nabili nyo only to find out na hindi pwede sa newborn RF.  Newborn/infant recommended recline angle is about 45 deg.  You can adjust the incline of convertible seats by placing rolled towel/s sa seat bight to tilt the seat back more.  Check out www.car-seat.org for some examples and also recommendations of convertibles that fit newborn well. There are also installation tips there and you can ask the forumers since most are experienced Child Passenger Safety techs. Goodluck!

Yung Madrid para rin syang Seville, iba lang ang fabric. According to the website, it has 5 levels of recline. Baka di lang alam i-recline ng SA. Nasa ilalim sa may bandang feet yung switch. Medyo matigas lang sa umpisa pero it gets easier as you use it. Well, hindi rin pala sya appropriate sa car nyo kasi di pwedeng lap belt lang.

^ Agree. I think the shell is the same, aside from that, magkaiba lang ang harness tightening system.  With the Madrid,  sa shoulder harness sinisikipan individually while sa Seville may pull strap sa harap ng seat.

^^ The Fisher Price convertible seat and Madrid are almost exactly identical except for the covers and lower side bolster of the Madrid.  Both are made in France by Team Tex http://www.nania.com/groupes.php?id_groupe=5,  Madrid = Driver SP,  Fisher Price = Cosmo SP.  If you can get it on sale sa Mothercare, the better!   

By the way, aside from seat belt compatibility, check din kung kasya sa back seat if you will be installing it rear facing.

Yea. Check also if your car seat belt is long enough. May ibang cars kasi short lang ang seat belt (dati kasi nililipat ko yung car seat sa aming relatives' cars kung makikisakay lang kami; I had no choice then but to forward-face it kahit sa car namin RF pa).

^ Good suggestion too.  Pwede ba ipatry sa car yung mga car seat sa mothercare before bilhin to check the fit?  By the way, in what car do you install the Seville and how is the fit pala?  Hindi ba cramped ang front seats if rear facing?  Mukhang mahaba kasi sya rear facing kung reclined.

^I asked Mothercare before pero hindi sila pumayag (although nakalagay naman sa brochures nila na may free car-fitting). We have a proper-sized sedan, not a compact one. Kasya naman RF and FF. Di lang masyadong ma-recline too much ang front seat, but it's fine naman, there's enough leg room.

Was thinking about the Madrid for a 2nd seat para sa isang car pa namin para hindi na tanggal kabit pero compact car lang din sya.  The car seat that I have right now fits well sa compact car namin.  Decent legroom and recline sa front seats.  I was hoping to have the same front legroom sa other car. ^Oh, if you have a compact car, the Madrid/Seville might be a little too bulky. Sinakay ko na kasi sa compact car yun dati, kasya pero medyo masikip.

Ang concern ko ngayon, my daughter is about to get taller than the back rest of her Seville (though wala pa syang 4yo). We have a Chicco booster seat that looks like this http://uk.shopping.com/Chicco-Max-3/info kaya lang feeling ko it's not as safe kasi wala nang integral harness (uses car seat belt) pati parang aalog-alog sya dun, medyo payat kasi. OK lang kaya to keep her in her convertible car seat kahit medyo matangkad na sya, rather than use a booster na too big for her built?

Personally, i wouldn't be comfortable using a no harness high back booster for a child less than 4. malikot pa kasi so may tendency na mawala sa tamang pwesto kung car seatbelt lang kaya kailangan harnessed. If she has truly outgrown the Seville (Harness at the top slot is coming out of the seatback below you daughter's shoulder, FF), i would get a combination harness to booster seat, so that she can harness before she's ready for the Chicco Max3 HBB.  What is the weight of you daughter na pala?  I assume you turned her front facing already?

If not patusin ko na yung baby 1st na nakita ko nakasale na wala pa 3k front facing nga lang...


I called mothercare Gb5, di nakasale yung madrid, kalito lang kasi madrid seville ang name ng car seat na madrid. Eh sa website iba ang seville at madrid
