Baby Car Seat, maganda and comfy?

Mga sis, anong gamit ninyong car seat kay baby na comfy siya? We have Graco yung sa panganay ko pa, and I am thinking kung magiging comfy doon si bunso since 3 mos. old pa lang siya, nagamit kasi ng panganay ko yun for the first time mga 8 mos. old na siya.

Saka paano setup ninyo pag mag milk si baby inside the car? Kinakalong ninyo ba or nakaupo pa din sa carseat, tapos dun pinapadede? Sorry mga sis, 6 years kasi pagitan nilang magkapatid, naninibago na naman ako, honestly, hindi ko na nga matandaan kung paano namin iginala ang panganay ko nung ganito siya kaliit.

From newborn until her 6th month, Zoe used her Graco car seat which came with her stroller system. After that, we bought her a Baby 1st car seat which is really padded and comfy for her. Super mura pa nya. The seat can be reclined a bit para when she's drinking her milk or taking a nap. When we are inside the car, she stays in her car seat. Mas sanay sya don kesa pag yung kandong sa passenger seat kase ang gulo gulo nya pag wala sya sa seat nya.

we have a chicco proxima reversible car seat. it has a new born support so ok siya when baby was smaller. yon nga lang, she was so small when she was born, hindi namin nagamit agad yung car seat.

we started using it i think when she was 3 months old, rear-facing pa noon. we made it front-facing when she was about 9 months old. she's 13 months now and ok na ok pa din siya sa car seat. she used to it na din kasi. naka-recline ng konti yung car seat but she's almost sitting up  straight na, ganon ang position nya. she can sleep on it din. when she's drinking milk, ganon lang din ang position ng car seat.

mothercare has good model of carseats. di pa ganoon kamahal. yung sa baby ko di ko lang maalala yung model. pero comfy baby ko dun and stay put lang siya lagi dun at nakakatulog. pag hindi siya nakacarseat super likot niya naglalambitin.

by the way yung carseat we bought from mothercare can be used from 0month to 4yo. kaya super sulit.

Mga sis, sino sa inyo nakabili na ng carseat na second hand galing Japan, yung mga aprica euro turn, combi zeus turn etc., ang price kasi niya pag brandnew 25,000, sa mga nagtitinda sa facebook, nasa 3,000-5000 lang.

Maganda kasi siya, naihihiga talaga, tapos 360 degrees pa naiikot.. Yun kasi balak kong bilhin. Thanks

using maxicosi carseat na combi. medyo di pa kasya si baby. ang ginagawa ko na lang nilalagyan ko ng mattress yung carseat pag ilalagay si baby. mas okay na din kaysa hawak si baby during the byahe.

Car seat use is not as strict here than in other countries. If a car seat was in a car that was in accident, i think di na pwede yung carseat na yon. Madami pang ibang guidelines. Check baby center for more info.

Thanks mga sis sa feedbacks. Nagtingin nga kami kahapon ni hubby ng brandnew na car seat, merong disney, wala pang 4,000 kaso magagamit ni baby mga 6 mos. old na siya.

Hinahanap ko yung magagamit niya ngayon na, kasi gala na kami ng gala eh LOL.

^ van, yes, until she was about 9 months old.

her carseat is the reversible kind and there are guidelines on up to what height/weight dapat rear-facing. we only made the car seat front-facing when she met the height/weight.

It can be used rear facing from 5-40 lbs and front facing from 20-65 lbs.

I saw a fisher price convertible car seat (0-18kg) sa Robinsons Festival Mall.  Color is black/gray/red.  It is very similar to the mothercare madrid car seat. Iba lang ang fabric.

By the way,  wala tayong car seat law in the Philippines but in the US,  ang recommendation ng American Academy of Pediatrics is to keep the child rear facing to at least 2 years old and preferrably up to the maximum rating ng seat in terms of weight and height.  Safer by 500% ang mga baby natin rear facing compared to front facing lalu na at hindi pa developed yung mga bones nila.  On sudden stops or impact kasi yung seat back ang magsusuport sa buong likod ng baby kapag rear facing, unlike front facing na yung harness ang magsusupport at mag snap forward yung ulo at limbs ng baby.  1/3 kasi ng weight ng baby ay sa head pa at malambot pa yung cervical spine kaya dapat protektahan sa whiplash.

Important din yung paginstall ng car seat sa kotse.  dapat pag nainstall sya at nahigpitan na ang seat belt or ISOFIX or Latch belt ay hindi gagalaw ng 1 inch yung car seat sa belt path kapag inuga ng non dominant hand yung car seat.  Kung loose kasi ang pagkakainstall hindi din magagawa ng car seat yung trabaho nya na protektahan ang precious ones natin.

Marami akong nakikita na nakakalong lang ang baby at akap akap ng braso pag nasa kotse.  Nakakatakot. Kasi on an emergency,  maaring mabitawan ng kumakalong yung baby.

^ yes, safer nga rear-facing until 2 years old or until you reach the max height/weight limit. i read that also.

ang mahirap lang kasi with rear-facing, as baby grows taller, ang hirap na ng position niya. this is what happened to us eh. i didnt want to turn the car seat to face front yet but her legs were folded up na, always kicking pa the backrest of the backseat. kaya i've wondered how you'd be able to keep a child in a rear-facing carseat when s/he is almost 2 na medyo matangkad na. so parang hindi talaga aabot ng 2 years old?

i read somewhere that the safest is the middle of the backseat but only if you have a 3-point seat-belt there. some cars kasi only have a lap belt sa middle ng backseat.

^That is also a concern sa US where mahigpit sila sa car seat use.  Ang sabi naman ng mga ERF (Extended Rear Facing) advocates, perception lang daw ng adults yung walang leg room pag rear facing ang mga bata kasi kung adult ang malalagay sa ganung pwesto, mangangalay nga sila.  Pero ang mga kids daw ay sobrang flexible.  Actually kung front facing naman, minsan ang tendency nakahang yung paa nila kasi mataas yung car seat kaya nakakangalay din. 

You are right. Center rear daw ang safest position pero any position daw is equally safe as long as correct ang pagkakainstall ng car seat.  May added % of safety lang sa gitna. Kung 100% safe sa ibang location, sa center rear ay 105% safe. 

Sa Chicco proxima kailangan ata 3 point seat belt kaya limited ka sa location. Pero other car seats allow lap belt only.  Yung car seat ng baby ko, pwedeng lap belt install lang sa rear center.

Pero clueless, nakakatuwa kasi you are one of the few parents in the Philippines who uses a car seat kahit wala tayong law for car seat use dito. Napakabihira kong makakita ng car seat dito sa atin.

^ quite a few of my friends here in manila also use car seats for their kids. it's safer kasi talaga aside from the fact na nahihilo when she's on my lap and ang likot. this happened na kasi when she was sick, she really didnt want to stay on her carseat and preferred to be held. pero ang likot, restless because of her sipon. nahilo ako. haha.

with front-facing, yeah, naka-hang nga ang legs. my baby sometimes has one foot up on the seat, siguro nakakangalay nga.

pwede din naman lap belt for the proxima. i mean pwede ikabit using a lap belt pero umaalog, like your description earlier so better to have a 3-point belt. when rear-facing with a 3-point belt, it was a challenge to put her on the seat. haha. hirap na hirap ako. easier now that she's front-facing. but we sometimes use the car seat in our car na lap belt only in the center.

baby had class at gymboree today. my husband took her kasi i have work. they were hit by another car from behind. hay, buti naka-carseat ang baby! now i dont know if magpapaka-OA ako to change her carseat. i remember kasi my brother in canada, nung nabangga siya, very minor lang but the kid was in the car din, my niece's car seat had to be replaced with a new one.

^i hope your baby and husband are ok. And yeah, good thing your baby is in her car seat! Imagine kung nasa back seat lang sya nakaupo without any restraint.

Malakas ba ang pagkarear end?  Depending on the instruction sa manual ng car seat you may need to replace it. Meron kasing ibang manufacturer sinasabi sa manual not to use after any accident.  Meron namang iba, kung major accident lang pinapatigil ang paggamit para palitan.  You need to check your proxima car seat manual for this.

Sa US at Canada covered ng insurace pati car seat.  Di ko lang alam dito sa atin. Mapapacover nyo ba sa nakabangga kung sakali?

By the way, ok lang umalog yun car seat pag nakakabit na sa seat belt as long as hindi nagslide yung car seat sa belt path ng more than 1 inch.  Kung nag slide sya kahit anong higpit, kailangan ihanap sa ibang pwesto.
