@sis IronLady, sa Ateneo, 6-9pm ang classes.  Most, if not all, MBA students from Ateneo are working or have their own business, so you won't have a hard time naman.   I took 2 units per term (except for one term wherein I had to take 3 units), and I was able to finish in 3 years.  You can also take Saturday classes if talagang hectic ang weekdays mo. 

Sa UP, I think may part-time and full-time students.

I'm interested in either a masters in marketing degree or an mba but I didn't graduate top of my batch or received honors or anything from school. would these present impediments in applying?

@health gal Cool! I'm actually taking another MA at Loyola Schools. Comps and Thesis na lang, pero postpone ko muna. Chaka na kapag namotivate ako, lol.

@Anachel I had ok grades in college (no failing marks but wasn't part of the dean's list either), and it wasn't a problem naman.  But I do remember na may WGA na requirement - B ata for Ateneo, di ko alam ang equivalent sa numbers.  Sa UP, 1.75 most MAs.

sis, antagal pala ng masters [textspeak!]! inabot ka ng 3yrs sa 2 subjects per term! ganun din kasi sana plan ko. akala ko 2yrs kaya na! mukang mahihirapan ako. ibig sabihin 3yrs din ako on a tight budget! sis di ba naging problema ang work sa pagrereview tuwing may exams? paano pala kapag hindi muna ko pasok ng isang term? may kelangan ba i-submit sa pag-alis at pag-balik ko?

Sa MBA sa ADMU, dapat wala kang bagsak (of course). Di ko matandaan ang passing grade, but I think dapat wala kang grade na below 2.5 (4 kasi ang highest sa MBA).  Sa Loyola Schools (for MAs), stricter sya.  You should only get 2 Bs or else tanggal ka na sa program.

If you're not going to enroll for one term, I think dapat magfile ka ng LOA.  Yung 3 years for MBA, it's the norm at AGSB.  May ibang nakakatapos ng 1.5 years pero mga full-time students sila (mostly foreigner students).  May iba na nakakatapos ng 2 years (3-4 subjects a term).  May strama paper (equivalent of a thesis) pa kasi sa MBA, kaya 3 years mo talaga matatapos if 2 subjects a term.  Hindi naman mahirap mag-review kapag exam.  My professors didn't give weekly exams naman.  I had to study lang for my midterms and finals.

I took my mba in ateneo.  I took it like 10 yrs ago, i was 22 and still single, and i met my hubby sa mba... hehe! Anyway, i agree with some of our sisses... If you're married and with kids, i suggest you take up mba in Ateneo grad school or la salle (ei, no offense meant here...) based from what ive heard, mabigat nga daw talaga ang workload sa up. But shempre, depende naman sa tao yun and yung reasons why you want to take up masters degree... 

I think, well during my time, sa ateneo (agsb) they have yung mba standard and mba regis.  The standard is you have to go to class twice or thrice a week. Oarang regukar schooling, may group activities, recitation, etc....  While yung regis, i think you have to meet the class once a month lang coz you'll be getting assignments yata or worksheets, or research works and at home ka mag aaral... Parang ganun ata... Im not sure tough if ganun pa rin ngayon...

Ano ang mas mahirap na exam, yung MA/MBA exam or collage entrance exam? As in kelangan paghandaan? Any suggestions kung ano mga dapat reviewhin na topics?

thanks sis reserv and ninar! yung friend ko sa UP full time sya. di daw pinapayagan na part time sabi nya e. masters in finance. balak ko sa dlsu.. and if pumasa baka saturdays [textspeak!] [textspeak!] whole day pumasok para di masyado gipit sa oras pag papasok na ko.. sana pwede o available ang subjects na kukunin ko sa sched na ganun!

@janiqua16 MBA/MA entrance exams are ok lang; they weren't that easy, but they weren't that difficult naman.  Sa MBA / MA, review math (ratio and proportion lagi ang inaaral dapat, lol), reading comprehension, logic, and vocab.  Di ko matandaan pero sa MA ata kailangan mo rin brush up ng kaunti sa General Info. Sa MA (in ADMU and UP), you need to submit a statement paper pa. Sa MBA, di na kailangan.  What I did was to answer mga online tests, lol. You can buy reviewers at National, but I don't think kailangan pa.

Thanks sis ReservoirDogs! Good idea na mag answer ng mga online tests para ma-estimate ko kung anong subjects kelangan i-brush up, and mag prepare na din para isang exam lang sana pasok kaagad.

Right now i am taking up my master's degree at UP-Manila. Just finished my 1st year, 10 units lang. Slow yun track ko, kasi, i am really undecided pa,i have several options kasi din. Anyway, to those wanting to take up master's but hesitant kasi sa "age", don't be! may mga classmates ako 50+ years old pa nga e. Meron pa yata 60. It's never too late to learn =)

UP manila rin ako, sis.  thesis na ako.  hopefully matapos ko na this academic year.  saang college ka?

Sis, question.. isa sa mga requirements sa application eh Original and copy of Transcript of records.. ibabalik ba yung original?? isa lang kasi ang copy ko nun.. sabi pa nga dapat remarked 'for evaluation or for further studies purposes" kaso wala na ko time para magrequest at kumuha pa nung ganun.. so im thinking kung iasama ko sa requirements na ipapasa yung original with photocopy.. kaso kung hindi na ibabalik yun eh photocopy na lang su-submit ko.. ang kaso baka naman hindi na tanggapin application ko? helf!

Hey Sisses,

I was searching thru forums here for a subject about further studies or Master's Degree and sadly I found none. 

Anyway, I'm planning to take up my masters at UP Diliman.  I would like to know if anyone here has taken their admission exam or entrance exam in UP Diliman?  How's the exam? Was it difficult?

Today more and more women found themselves stucked with jobs that they don't really like or because no other company hires them.  For some they're just simply "bored".  Especially when you reach age 30++ and the only qualification you have is your graduate degree. 

Taking up a Master's Degree can elevate your chances of getting the job you've always wanted.  It can also widen your network. For 30++ ladies and are still single.. You can meet MR RIGHT here.

For me, my reasons were:
1.  I'm bored with my current work.  No matter how hard I put heart into it I just can't, I stay here because the pay is good. 
2.  I want to keep the engine running.  Reading books isn't enough for me.
3.  To meet new friends and widen my network.  I might just get a new job because my classmate is a scion of a multi national company!! 

Nothing wrong with pursuing a Master's Degree. Medyo nadidilute na nga ang halaga ng Bachelor's degree or even master's degree. but do it while you're still young and strong. hopefully with it, you'll be better qualified for something better, and you'll get not just the simple fulfillment that others are simply after.

Going back to Uni, you will re-live the old days in a lot of ways. Eccentric teachers; Madali na subject pinahihirapan lang; out of this world examinations; super cool teachers; new friends; prospects; the whole 9 yards. except that this time, you are treated maturely and you are expected to have developed good study habits.

in the beginning you'll be excited, in the middle parang, "wala lang" and close to the end, you'll be dying to finish your degree, move on with your life and leave school without looking back or without giving second thoughts in pursuing another degree. basically as you near the end, you might be hating school work. hehe.

so the excitement, imho, eh sa una lang yan.

also, never confuse your long term goals and dreams with what you can handle per semester. over commitment is what makes students have a hard time.
