^awww sis sayang naman hindi nyo tinapos. :( i think 4 hours is not enough para ma-assess nyo na hindi okay ang DW. true na some parts eh nakaka-antok pero sobrang dami namin talagang natutunan ni h2b.

highly recommended ko ang DW even for couples na wala pang plans magpakasal. :)

Sana you gave DW a "fighting chance" para din hindi nasayang ang money. Andun na din lang naman
kayo. The first 4 hours was nothing compared to the whole weekend.

Anyway, kanya kanya talaga yan. I also have to agree that there will be some parts na boring,
but as a whole madami ka pa din naman makukuha.

If 2-4 hours kayo andun, it meant that was Friday night. Introduction & Orientation plus Focusing on
Feelings is really "mababaw" - it just has to keep you started. Saturday & Sunday talks were really
realities in life na.

Bag_gurl and charm, I am happy that you guys recommend DW. Sana nga to even those who are
not yet engaged. :)

My fiance and I attended Discovery Weekend last June and it was a good experience.

I would not say that it's a 'must' to experience this, but wala namang mawawala if you and your husband-to-be will attend. At the very least, you'll have your pre-cana ticked off on your to-do list.

To be honest, at the start, my fiance and I were not very productive with our discussions, kase parang sapilitan. You'll be given topics to discuss about, and hindi namin masyadong feel. Pilit na pilit, we're discussing for the sake of discussing kase sabi ni chaplain. At the start the topics weren't 'urgent' or as important kase. As the seminar progressed and the topics became more serious, hala, ayan na, pag-usapan natin to. That's when we started to dialogue na talaga.

I enjoyed the couples-sharing, I love to hear stories about married life from real couples.

What I liked best about it was that after the seminar, we are more sure than ever before that we're meant to be together. And I'm proud to say, most of the topics na-discuss sa Discovery Weekend, and most of the topics they asked us to dialogue about, my fiance and I have already talked about previously on our own. We were feeling mighty good about ourselves after that. But still, we learned a lot.

As for board and lodging, okay naman, no complaints. They exceeded my expectations pa nga, because in the email Lala sent, parang we were being 'warned' about the food and room. Okay naman, food was good (lutong-bahay, served family-style) and the rooms were clean. No need na to bring extra pillow and blanket, unless you need more than one. Towel is not provided.

And yes, I know of couples who called off their weddings after DW. But that's a blessing in disguise, kaysa naman nagtuloy sila.

Warning lang, there are cheesy parts. If like us, you're not the type, don't worry, it won't kill you. Oh, and bring insect repellent. If you smoke, bring an ample supply of cigarettes, haha!

Overall, I would recommend this. Kinukuwento ko nga sa mga soon-to-wed friends ko to sign up.

we're attending our 2 nights/3 days Engaged Encounter Weekend in Vineland, NJ in about two weeks.  paid $295.  i'm kind of expecting a retreat-like experience like what i've routinely gone through during several years of catholic school.  he is little more apprehensive.  he went to public school, had a few years of CCD, but has not really gone on any retreat all his life.  it's going to be so new to him.  i'm just going to laugh at him the whole weekend..  :P

we bounced on saturday afternoon.  we *immensely* valued the experience and in fact continued the "sharing" sessions at home.  but we were just missing our lonely bottles and wine glasses at home, so we bailed.  :P

we would still recommend the experience to any and all though.

it may be pricey yet worthwhile investing on a lifetime marriage rather than just a one-day wedding.  mas mahal to have problems later.

That's too bad.  The first part (more about self) is really boring.  It's the discussions after (when they start talking about marriage and relationships) that are really interesting.

I am proud DW graduate and an active volunteer until now :) We give one of the talks/sharing :)

This is our (my hubby & I) apostolate. We find joy in serving and helping couples. We actually went back to DW to serve only after 1 1/2 years after attending it. After DW kasi, we were busy pa with wedding preparations for a year. We went back to volunteer as a way of saying thanks - it was the best preparation we made for our marriage (not just the wedding preps)!

For those interested, don't think about it twice! Just GO! :) Anyway, it will be just for the two of you. No socialization and sharing much with the whole group. The success will depend on the effort that both of you will put into it.

I can answer more if there's someone who's interested pa :)

Hi sis! This is my situation. My fiance and I will be civilly married this Jan 19, 2012. However, we are still not going to live under the same roof until 2013. Do you think this seminar is applicable to us or  it would be better if we get the married couple seminar? Also, can you give me some insights on the topics discussed in the discovery weekend programme. Para we could gauge more or less kung applicable pa ba samin to join after our civil wedding. Thanks!

^ Hindi niyo kaya mag attend ng Jan 13-15? :) That will be the best.
If not, I suggest that you still attend even after the civil wedding. We accept participants as long as wala pang church wedding.

I'm not quite sure with your arrangement pero after a year pa pala kayo magsasama. (ayaw ko magtanong sana kasi alam ko you have your own reasons na) Pero why go through the civil wedding early?

Anyway, DW is really actually kasi to know/if you are meant for each other. It starts with self discovery, then discovery about your partner, etc.

You may PM for further questions, normally kasi we don't discuss topics para "surprise" pa din.

Sa qc Lang pala yan, is there a way kaya to see the accommodations? I am
Very o.c. Kasi, that it's almost psychological thing. I'd like to try.
