meron na ba nakapag-try sa inyo um-attend dito? required ba yung ganitong klaseng seminar? counted ba ito as pre-cana seminar? sorry no idea talaga ako.

ano ano pala yung ginagawa during this seminar. pa-share naman ng experiences dun sa mga sisses natin na nakapag-attend na nito. thanks

My fiance and I attended this last April, and we loved the entire experience. This is not required for couples intending to marry, but some churches like ours (SSJ) recognize it as a pre-cana already.

The duration is 3 days and 2 nights (Friday night till Sunday afternoon). You will be living at a retreat house all this time. It's a weekend where you leave work and other matters behind and focus only on your partner, your relationship and your future plans together. There are several topics. Usually, the flow is a married couple (usually DW alumni who volunteer) will share their real-life experience related to the topic (ex. miscommunication, misunderstanding of feelings). Then the topic will be delved into deeper, and then the couples will be asked to dialogue on their own. There are several areas set up in the entire compound for couples to talk without being overheard or disturbed.

It was a great experience for my fiance and I, who have really busy and tiring work lives. You'll be able to discuss in detail both your expectations for your married life. I really appreciate the lessons on listening and feelings. Minsan kasi diba, the guys, they don't really reveal their feelings, kasi parang nababawasan daw pagkalalaki nila. DW will guide you both on how to talk about your feelings. Ang dami namin na-discuss, from the big things like what if may nasabing di maganda ang inlaws namin about us, kanino ka kakampi, or what if di kami magka-anak, paano ang finances once married na. Pati little things like yung pagbaba ng toilet seat (naiinis ako pag nakakalimutan ito).

Wala naman atang naghiwalay na couple sa batch namin after our weekend, hehe.

Lastly, masarap yung food!

^sis, di ko sure if pwede dito yung mga married na. pero ayon dun sa nabasa ko "for engaged couples who are seriously considering marriage" pero i-try mo din.

sis, i think around 7,000-8,000 php per couple depende ata sa venue

There is the "married" version of Discovery Weekend.  It's called Marriage Encounter. 

Fr. Tanseco of CEFAM patterned Discovery Weekend after Marriage Encounter (which he brought to the Philippines from Spain more than 40 yrs ago).

We've attended both and in my opinion it was worth it.

If you're interested, there’s an upcoming Marriage Encounter Weekend on Nov 19-21, 2010 at BLD Dasmariñas, Cavite with Fr. R. Tanseco.

Participating couples must reside in or near the South (Magallanes through San Pedro, Laguna).

Pero ito ba yung parang may certain number of couples lang per session (parang 8 couples lang yata)tapos yung last 2 na nagregister, hindi na airconditioned yung room? Sorry, I'm not sure if ito yun pero I just wanna know kung ito nga yun. hehe...

Hi mga sis, Im happy that there's a topic like this.  I am married though not a grduate of DW.  But Im invited to sit in their sessions.  Considering of being a volunteer cause Im passionate with MARRIAGE PREPARATION! Investing in the marriage would do wonders!

I commend your interest programs DW and Pre-Cana of Cefam.  This means that you really want to be armed for married life.  Both are not required by the church. But some parishes recognizes them as the "Pre-Cana Seminar" that they require parishoners getting married.  There are other options available if you really want to prepare for your marriage, cause the focus of programs are different:
- Discovery Weekend - focus on couple dialogue, expectations on married life, communication and spirituality.  this follows a retreat type format for a whole weekend seminar
- Pre-Cana (CEFAM) - this focuses on the expectations on marriage, and heavy on the family-of-origin issues.  meaning the issues from your respective families that will have a significant effect on your marital life.  From what I know, this is a 2 weekend  seminar, and the couples works with a marriage counselor.
- Working with a Marriage Counselor - there are marriage counselors who may work on the couple in preparing them for marriage.  Custom fit sa needs ng couple yung sessions.

^hi sis! yung venue nyo din ba ay sa OMI Retreat house sa Quezon City? We have to pay pa yung reservation fee. sana makaabot kami kasi 30 couples lang daw yung ina-accomodate nila eh. as of monday 22 na daw yung nakapag-confirm. aay..sana umabot kami.

sis, yup, OMI retreat house sa commonwealth...actually nagulat ako kasi may slots pa nung nagpareserve kami.. ang alam ko kasi usually mabilis mapuno to e... text/ email/tawag ka lang agad tomorrow kay ms lala para malaman mo kung pwede pa kayo pareserve.
