I'm planning to enroll my daughter in Kumon this coming March.

i was told na pag medyo ok [textspeak!] progression ng bata, pwede daw nila ihalo math and reading. so as i understand it, isang P1800 lang yun per month. though d ko lang din sure.hehe

3,600 sya sis, basta 1,800 per subject.

both my kids are enrolled in kumon. one subject lang sila. the head teacher didn't advise them to enroll both in math and english. usually nahihirapan daw ang bata pag sabay. mas maganda daw na isa muna then see if they can add another later.

the parents' role in kumon schooling is very critical for the child's learning. the child has to finish one worksheet per day, even if he/she's not in the center. a worksheet has 10 pages, back-to-back (sometimes 5) depending on the child's ability.

at first, i thought it will just be easy. pero the hardest part is in convincing them to study regularly in a way that they won't get bored in the process. sometimes kasi, paulit-ulit ang worksheet until they got it perfect. it's the kumon way of ensuring that the child really learns. as a parent, it's a bit of sacrifice. walang holidays ang pag-aaral ng kumon. there's a always a kumon time everyday. as for the progress of my children, i think it's worth it.

^yes sis, including sundays. as in everyday talaga. in a sense, parang memorization na din. pero i think it's ok for as long what is being memorized is the set of letters that make up the word, and not just the picture that is associated with the word.

pero mminsan, di mo maiiwasan na yung picture ang binabasa. hehe... minsan nga yung girl ko, kabisado na nya yung pagkakasunud-sunod ng mga words kaya kahit di nakatingin nasasabi nya. hehe... yun yata ang dapat ingatan. kaya ako, tinatakpan ko ang pictures pag 2nd time na.

yup, may flyer na binigay ang kumon center. 2-week free trial this feb. pwede daw i-try ng kids ko ang math for free. reading lang kasi sila now. pero yung free-trial, bale 3-day trial lang yun since twice a week lang naman ang kumon. then yung first day, usually for orientation lang.

^Thanks Sis, ipit ako sa sched ng orientation eh, kaya di ko alam kung papayag sila 1 on 1 na orientation, tagal din ng orientation 2 hours.

^naku sis, we spent four hours for the orientation kasi one hour din yata kami naghintay at nag-fill out ng forms tapos two hours for the presentation and another hour for open forum. inabot kami ng 8pm.

pero it's nice to attend the orientation. well, it's required kaya aattend talaga ang parents. hanap ka ng sched na medyo hapon na, or whenever your work permits. payag naman sila. pero better kung makakakkita ka ng kasama mo na parent with the same sched.

meron ngang free trial this february and pinalista ko na yun 9yo ko for math and my 3.5 yo daughter for reading. sana magenjoy sila kasi sayang naman kung enroll ko then tatamarin. i saw the result with my niece grade 4 lang siya but she's solving high school problems. and she's really good in math. kaya nga kahit additional gastos naencourage ako ienroll mga kids ko

hi mga sis! my youngest is 3.5 yo and plan to ienroll sya this coming june as nursery, ask ko [textspeak!] if pwede bang sa kumon ko n lang kaya sya ienroll instead of sending her to normal school as nursery and kinder, then pag prep ko na lang sya ienroll sa school? and as i know, the child must able to read for her to accept in prep. thanks sa magreply..

We're attending the free trial this feb 15. ask ko lang sa inyo na nag kumon yung kids kung how soon you will see the results especially dun sa mga kids nila na nag kumon around 3 yrs old? My kid kasi is 3. Buti sakto nung nag inquire ako may free trial to see if my kid will adapt kasi sabi sakin at least mga 4 tlaga ang requirement nila pero depende daw kasi sa bata yun. the youngest they had was 2.5 yrs old so the free trial will help assess the child daw tlaga if the kid is ready. Excited na nga kami! My kid kasi she really wants to go to school already kaya lang ayoko muna to enroll her sa real school setting until she turns 4. Gusto ko sa kUmon though it's not really a preschool set up dahil walang interaction with the kids kasi serious learning sya at hindi parang gymboree type kasi my kid is already exposed with other kids and she plays everyday na so what i really want is for her to learn so kumon is the perfect one I guess. I hope nga lang she'll be fit enough sa assessment I want to make her ready for the real schooling by next year para ma expose  na din.

hi! nakaenroll na bunso ko sa reading, after a year math naman. pag prep ko na lang sya ienroll sa school, kasi sabi nung nag-orient sa amin madami daw toddler student nila ang na-accelerate yung iba pa nga raw grade1 na agad pagpasok.

San sis yung free trial? Nagcheck ako sa tinawagan kong kumon nakakainis yung nakausap ko kase sabi kung my free trial lahat daw dapat sila nainform... Natatawa tawa pa nga ng sumagot saken... Parang sarcastic [textspeak!] sagot

mga sis, sa school ng eldest ko inside their campus my kumon branch na talaga kaya alam ko kung kelan parents orientation at free trial session nila, kaya na-encourage din ako na ikumon na lang yung bunso ko. march 21/26/28 ang orientation nila last month, i'll ask sa monday if kelan uli orientation nila for april and kung lahat ba ng branch e same schedule.

hi mga sis i enrolled my son (4.5) sa kumon last Feb na inspire kase ako sa mga nabasa ko here before. So far we've seen a big improvement na on him. He can now read in sentences and start na sya to read the complication long words. It took him only about 2 mos to read kaya happing happy ako sa results.

my son is incoming grade1 this school year... and he has been with kumon for about a year na din (math program)... at first mabilis ang progress ng son ko naga-advance level na agad sya... but lately (couple of months) medyo nababagalan na ako... my son knows how to do addition and subtraction (higher numbers) but since may time ang kumon and di nya name-meet yung required time for each sheets di sya maka-move to the next level... di nya kasi masyadong sineseryoso ang pag gawa ng kumon although he knows the answer more on laro (daydreaming lol) kaya ayun matagal bago nya matapos ang isang worksheet... napapaisip tuloy ako should we continue his kumon or what... yung level nya kasi ngaun almost 8mos na nya ginagawa paulit ulit na lang sya (natapos na nya yung required na 200 sheets per level) but since di ma-meet [textspeak!] time pinapaulit ulit na lang sa kanya nung teacher    ... eh 1,800 din yun a month na paulit ulit lang ng level

Nag free trial ang son ko last September 2010, he was only 2 years and 9 months then. After that ini-enroll ko kesa naman nasa house lang at nanonood ng tv. Right now he can count until 50. Kahit i rumble mo mga numbers, he can identify it nang hindi sunod sunod.

Kaso pahirapan kasi nga everyday is a kumon day. Kahit sundays merong worksheet. One worksheet per day dapat ang sagutan. E what do you expect from a 3.5 years old na lalaki. Mahirap, patience talaga kasi if not ampaw ang worksheet. Nasimulan lang tapus hindi na matatapos up to the last page.

Ayun away kami lagi ng son ko, kasi tamad siya gumawa nang walang bribe. Hay, ewan kung tutuloy ko sya kasi nakakatoxic din pag ang bata ayaw sumunod. Sabi ni teacher, this May, sa recognition day may bronze medal daw sya. Yun na lang ang pang bawi ko sa mga days na nahihirapan ako mag pagawa ng worksheets sa anak ko.

im a newbie and i came across GIRLtalk coz I searched in the net about KUMON.  My son is 6y3m old now and he took the diagnostic test in MATH yesterday and he'll start next week. My dilemma is I also want him to enroll in reading coz he's not that good pa in reading.  Question, would Kumon be able to help him with it or baka kasi my son will get frustrated lang kasi I believe in Kumon 100% correct daw dapat. pano ma-aassess ng Kumon if my son is doing good or not in reading if home-based ang worksheets?  Anyway, would you, moms, recommend it that Ill enroll him as well in reading? Thanks so much!

hello po. Medyo interesado rin ako dito sa kumon. Meron ba malapit na branch sila dito sa makati? Kaso naenroll ko na siya sa skul n papasukan niya sana this summer. indi ba masasayang if shell out ulit ako ng money para dito. Medyo mabagal pa kasi magbasa anak ko and ang comprehension di pa ganon kagaling...

Singapore Math is a more superior method, try to look it up.  Both my children are way, way advance in Math and the US has actually changed its curriculum to adapt this method, talagang proven that children who grew up learning this are more critical thinkers and excel more.

Hi sis, i enrolled my son sa Kumon last May, reading yung kinuha ko for him because he can read pero mahina sya sa comprehension. so far so good naman..di naman magiging kabisote si baby kase may achievement test sila sa Kumon mismo..not sure lang kung tuwing kelan..also my son is very excited pag Kumon days (kase 2x a week lang siya eh).. yung worksheets are very kid friendly kase my illustrations kaya naeenganyo yung bata magbasa..they have worksheets na ginagawa sa schools then yungmga homework na worksheet din, reason for that is para hindi mabakante si baby pag wlang pasok sa kumon..they have the tendency na tamarin kase pag hindi tuloy tuloy..about dun sa 100%, yes that's true, uulitin nila pag may mali. di naman mafrufrustate yung mga anak naten because they will present it in a positive way..sayang din naman kase yung abyad naten if hindi talaga matututunan nung anak naten yung dapat niyang matutunan


just my 2 cents lang naman..its still up to you if gusto mo siyang ienroll. payo ko lang, if mageenroll kayo, enroll mo siya sa start ng month, iba na kase yung bayad upon enrollment pag mid month na.
