pa-join.  :)

my 5-yr old went to kumon last summer. their workbooks are great, effective talaga. but the teachers, not really. assist-assist lang ginagawa nila. but siguro dahil magaling [textspeak!] wokbooks, kaya natututo mga bata.

i was told na pag medyo ok [textspeak!] progression ng bata, pwede daw nila ihalo math and reading. so as i understand it, isang P1800 lang yun per month. though d ko lang din sure.hehe

i'm planning to enroll my 5 yr old son in kumon reading. he's already S.Kinder, medyo nakakabasa na or "nakakapantig" na pero I loose patience talaga when I teach him kasi short ang attention span niya, even yong mga teachers niya minsan nahihirapan din kasi pag-ayaw niya gawin hindi niya talaga gagawin. Sa kumon daw kasi is not just learning but yong independence at discipline ang mino-mold nila. But don't you think it's too late na to enroll him in reading since medyo nakakabasa na naman siya, and enroll him in math instead?

hindi naman siguro sya conflicting sa progressive school... may mga students from montessori who goes to kumon also...

sis sats.... pwede ka namang makipag-ccordinate sa teacher... ako kapag tinatamad na anak ko ginagawa namin ng teacher binabawasan ang worksheet nya... kasi nagsasagot naman kaya lang matagal nabobored na kasi... tapos kapag ok na ulit dadagdagan na ulit ang worksheet nya... saan bang kumon branch ka malapit??? my daughter is with kumon na for 1 year and 4 months... i would say na may times na tamad na tamad na talaga sya kasi nga paulit ulit... pero tyagaan lang talaga sis... para sa kanila din naman ang ginagawa mo....

^^sis sa house naman matututo na ang bata to converse in english. More on worksheets ang kumon AFAIK. Wala yata masyado interaction.

^^yes mommy, they dont teach nga conversational english sa kumon..mas maganda ipasok sya sa montessori..o basically sa bahay lang kyo mag english..my daughter also is 3yrs old..since hindi pa nman sya nag reregular school, kaya pinagkumon muna nmin sya..parang home study ba..substitute.

my 9yo son had a diagnostic test today at Kumon for math.  He is a consistent honor student pero medyo mabagal siya sa computations sa Math. The teacher told me na he's quite good dahil pinatest sa kanya yun P4 since he's in grade 4. Comment lang is he's finger counting and doing the solution dun sa worksheet. Kumon pala discourages finger counting sa math. I hope na maging advance siya sa Math and Kumon will help him :)
