my mother in law is expecting me to do this - she did it for all 3 kids and claims that she doesn't have any aches or pains in her body at all. My mom naman didn't do this with us but she does have joint problems now.

My only worry is I'm due to give birth end Feb so my gelai will be in March which is summer time! I'll see if I can do it..My mother in law will most likely be the one to help with the baby so she'll be with me most of the time...

I've been reading about lochia after birth - it's kinda gross not to wash naman with all that blood  :(

Honestly a. dinidiscourage ang hindi pagligo dito due to hygiene reasons. and ge-lai originated in china where it is cold. this is not practical specially if you live in a tropical country :) and kawawa naman si baby kung hindi naliligo ang mommy diba

I gave birth last June 2010, I did practiced 'gelai', pero I make punas everyday with warm water and vinagre aromatico. Hirap lang sa buhok, kasi yucky nga.. pero if you're feeling icky and hot, I just open the aircon..

So far, with that, I noticed na ndi ako mabilis maginaw.. I feel strong. If you also eat healthy, eat gelai food, tingin ko nabigyan mo rin ng tamang nutrients si baby (if you're breastfeeding). Si Hubby, ndi nakakayanan yung lamig na gusto ko for the room, pero naiinitan ako e.. haha!

so now with 2nd baby, end of May ang due date ko.. so mukhang Summer ulit ang gelai!! wahhhh!!!

kahit di pa ako preggy, i want to follow this pag manganganak na ako.. sabi kasi ng matatanda (my mom and lola naniniwala dito as well as other oldies sa lugar namin kahit na tubong-taguig kami - no province), di pa agad mararamdaman ng katawan ang mga "kapabayaan" nung kabataan pa lang.. pag nagka-edad na dun sila magsusulputan..

Sisses, when i gave birth to my daughter last nov 2009, todo alaga ako nila mother and mother in law ko sa gelai ko. I took a bath after 3 weeks. And siyempre may mga bayabas seremonyas pa. I noticed back to normal na tummy ko after 2 weeks and kasya na mga pants ko :D then si mother in law lagi ako nilulutuan ng lapu lapu, diong kwe or black chicken and pigeon ;) medyo kakasawa pero carry naman kasi pampalakas daw yun.

^sis princess how fun to eat a lot of chocolate and still lose weight! hahaha sana it will be the same with me. Is it true that you can't eat fresh veggies and fruits during gelai? That's what my mom and mother in law told me.

I'm a little apprehensive of going thru gelai as even now I take a shower at least 3 times a day because I sweat so much! What more the month of my gelai which will most likely be end of Feb thru March - start of summer!  :-\

I will try to get thru it for as long as I can (2-3 weeks). My worry rin is my hair - it gets greasy and itchy, I'm trying to get my head used to it na by shampooing every other day but it's still a long shot from 2-3 weeks hahahaha I will just use baby powder to keep the greasiness at bay, lots of headbands, hairties and no visitors the entire time!

I do plan to wipe down my body everyday as it's just not hygienic and of course other feminine care and proper washing.

I'll be staying with my mother in law in downtown Manila as it will be easier for her to purchase the
food that I'll need to eat for the time - fresh lapu-lapu, black chicken, etc.

My mom has already purchased the chinese meds/tonic I have to drink post partum - they're so expensive pala! She already told me I have to drink them no matter what coz they are so expensive.

The Servello wine, a friend gave me a bottle and my mother in law will supply the rest.
