A blender is fine.  Pag tamad ako, I use it.  Pag masipag ako, mortar & pestle. Ang maganda kasi when you use a M&P, maganda yung texture nya. :)

I love pesto pasta. That's why I bought a small jar of pesto sauce coz I want to have a home-made pesto chicken (or tuna for the health conscious) It sits in our cabinet for 4 months na ata. I haven't seen a pine nuts since birth ;D but we have lots of cashew nuts from singapore. I think that is a good substitute for pine nuts.

Certified Pesto lover here!! I specially love pesto sa Cibo and Trattoria sa Shang mall (right beside Kashieca)

I remember when I ate pesto in one pasta place near our place. Naging kachummy ko yung waitress kasi lagi ako pumupunta doon to order my favorite pesto. So... sosyal ako?? ganun?? hehehhe

Anyway, for those who cannot make pesto, meron sa shopwise or sa rustans na Gourmet's Pesto sauce.

Are you referring to the one in powder form?  If you're referring to it, yes I've tried it before.  I didn't find it good.  I can't stand the taste of dried basil.  I still go for the pesto that's made from fresh basil leaves.

Classic Pesto

Ingredients:

2 cups fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup olive oil
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
4 garlic cloves
1/2 pine nuts
1/4 teaspoon salt

Procedure:

1. Using a food processor, combine the basil, cheese, pine nuts, garlic and salt and grind into a paste.
2. Slowly add the olive oil into the basil mixture until well combined.
3. Place a clean jar and container and refrigerate until ready to use.
