hi this is my recipe for the basil pesto

tested na rin siya mga sis ;D

1 pot of fresh basil leaves (blanch it)
8 garlic cloves (roasted)
100g pine nuts (roasted)
100ml olive oil
100g parmesan cheese
3pcs.anchovies
salt and pepper

just blend evrything in the blender. :o

you can use also olives,or mix herbs rather than basil.i usually use it as a dip for breads and dressing for some salads..

its nice also if you will mix the pesto sauce with cream and serve as a dressing for the salads ;D

Bread stick dip, Chicken Pesto.

Btw, I also tried yung cold pesto salad ng Salad Days sa Foodchoices.  Ang sarap.   At yung Pesto shrimp salad sa Delifrance, the Podium.  Sus, not worth it.  Lasang olive oil lang at yung pasta noodles, halatang reheat.  At P260 pa sya (with drinks). Nakoooo!!! MAHAL!!

You can use pili nuts instead of pine nuts, and calamansi instead of lemon. I came across these recipes for Pinoy style pesto using pili nuts:
http://pinoycook.net/pinoy-pesto/
http://80breakfasts.blogspot.com/2007/10/pili-nut-pesto.html
http://energychef.blogspot.com/2009/02/filipino-style-pesto.html

Fortunately my dad has a small patch of basil in the yard; next time I find pili nuts, it's pesto time! :)

^^ Great idea to use pili nuts! Pine nuts are expensive...but we have a big stash in the freezer, having bought a lot in the US.

I love pesto! But I only really like my homemade one. I can do better than what I pay for in restaurants.

^ You can find basil leaves in supermarkets (check out the salad greens section or veggies section) or in Farmers Market.

I found a small pack of roasted pili nuts in the grocery, and just made homemade pesto today! I used two big handfuls of fresh basil leaves, the pack of pili nuts, garlic, parmesan cheese and canola oil (we didn't have olive oil in the house). I just ground them all together. I spread it on my roast chicken breast for dinner. Yummy!!!
