Pag approved na petition as immigrant and I get to the US, am I allowed to exit and visit other countries and possibly go back to the Phils for a vacation? I want to be able to travel every 6 months. What are the implications of this?

If you get your permanent resident card na or at least natatakan na yung passport mo, you're ok to travel na.
As far as implications naman, wala naman yata except that if you're out of the country for too long, it might affect the continuous residency requirements if ever you decide to apply for naturalization.

Next month na yung interview ko! Kinakabahan ako sa medical... Tama nga dad ko dapat June makakaalis ako kaya lang nadelay ako sa pag-send ng docs sa kanya... F2B nga pala ko. Parang gusto kong magpa-check up muna sa doc ko para hindi ako kabahan.

good luck on your medical and visa interview..kami naman F2A..case complete na daw sabi ng hubby ko nun nag inquire sya sa NVC.pero since hindi pa current yun visa, wait pa kami ng schedule ng interview...3months gap pa daw e.

sis, ang alam ko, you must stay in the US for 2 solid years so your green card can be released. para maging candidate ka for citizenship. after that, you can go in and out of US as long as your stay outside the US is not longer than staying inside.

but in an event where in you "must" go back to pinas inside that first 2-year period, i think you must present a letter of sort to some agency. (that i dont really know) that happened to my cousin din when she was in the US and had to go back here coz someone died in the family. she was allowed naman pero 10 days lang dapat, balik na sya agad dun.. ayun.. ewan lang kung ganun pa din ngaun kasi that was like 10 years ago..

but if ever na ayaw mo namang maging citizen, baka pwede ang frequent travels.. ask around ka pa din sis.. hehe.. yan kasi yung natatandaan ko nung napanood ko yung Citizen Pinoy sa ANC

Vera, I forgot to mention that when I first got approved for legal permanent residence, I travelled agad. At that time, di ko pa hawak ang green card ko. Tatak lang sa passport.
I've been travelling almost yearly since I got my greencard and staying for 3-5 weeks at a time and wala naman akong naging problema with re-entry.
I've been eligible to apply for citizenship since 2007 actually kaya lang di pa ako sure if I want to apply for it.
Pero so far, wala naman akong problema with my travels.

Vera, I think the length of time it takes to process it varies state by state. Depende yata sa volume ng hinahandle nila. At least that's how it was when I applied 5 years ago. I'm assuming your husband is an American citizen?
Nung time ko, from the time of application to the approval of permanent residence status, it took only about 3 months. But then again, I live in a state that has probably way lesser immigrant applications than, say, California.
If you really need to travel without your approval yet, you could apply for advance parole/re-entry permit (I-131). I applied for it but did not get to use it since my visa was approved agad. Sayang lang yung fee. LOL

hello mga sisess! ask ko lang kung may background check pa ba na gingawa ang US embassy sa fiancee visa?? laki kce agwat namin eh 25 years! pagdudahan kaya kmi?? american cia at gusto niya ako ipetition under fiancee visa....single po ako pero nurse ako at may pending immigrant ako sa US employment based... approved na un pero it will take time kce priority date ko ay 2008 eh 2003 palang ang pinaprocess ngaun...so naisip namin na ipetition niya ako under fiancee [textspeak!] may background check pa ba nagagawin dito sa akin...?? helppo

grumpybear Thanks for the reply. I figured nga na after ko makuha yung permanent legal residency status ko, which is around 3-5 months for spouses, I can travel already but I couldn't stay in my destination country for more than 6 months.

bakit ganun kaya? nai-mail ko na thru LBC ang Ds230 namin at mga req'ts nun 07May, then may dumating na email from NVC na wala pa daw sila natatanggap at parang missing documents pa..i inquired thru LBC at natrace naman nila na nareceive na yun documents na pinadala ko..my hubby's been always inquiring thru NVC cust service, and lagi sagot daw ng machine e wala pa din daw nga natatanggap..someone said na baka false RFE yun nareceive ko na email...hintayin ko na lang daw...me nakaexperience na ba sa inyo ng same experience? hindi ko naman pede resend yun dahil baka lalo gumulo...tiA!

if you are approved as an LPR, you don't need a re-entry permit. Re-entry permits will only be applicable if pending pa yung case mo.

I insisted hubby to talk to an operator since ang lagi nya naririnig e AVR at yun nga, lagi sinasabi na incomplete pa daw yun docs  namin..fortunately, case complete na kami pero hindi pa daw current yun visa..so wait na lang kami ng interview..hindi kasi updated nga yun AVR..ayun, thankful naman kami at walang naging prob sa ipinadala kong documents..anyway, where do you check your status online..kasi yung sa USCIS website, receipt no.naman yun hinhinigi dun..ayaw tanggapin pag case number..e ang lumalabas pa rin na info e yun kung kelan naapprove yun petition..

Yeah... pa-share ng mga questions sa interview. Medyo nervous ako eh. F2b ako, this July na interview ko. Kailangan ko ba magdala ng sponsor's tax returns, green card & passport copies, and proof of remittances?

sis, how long inabot process from the time your hubby petitioned you up to the time you got the visa?
