Strutting in high heels can be a challenge; combining poise and balance with each stride can be difficult in towering shoes. Below, we teach you how to work it like a pro, so you'll never wobble again.

1. Go for block heels first.
A chunky heel can give you a stable step when you're just beginning to wear heels.

2. Slowly work with thin, mid heels.

As your feet and legs get used to walking in high heels, slowly introduce your tootsies to thinner heels. Start with those that are two to three inches high before slipping on sexy stilettos. These pumps have rubber soles that cushion and lessen the pain on the balls of your feet with each step.

3. Practice, practice, practice.

You can only be an expert if you do an activity repeatedly. Practice walking in heels in front of a mirror to see if you've mastered the graceful steps: Walk in a straight line with your heel first, and then land on your toes.


4. Bring flats, just in case.
You can never be too sure of your feet's threshold, so it's best to stash a pair of foldable flats in your bag to save the day.
