The rules of bra-washing can be confusing: Wash it often, and you'll end up ruining it. Not throwing it in the washer for an extended period, besides being gross and unhygienic, will also wreck it. What's a girl to do? Compromise.

The general rule of thumb is that if you've sweat buckets in your bra, it's definitely due for thorough cleaning, but for any ordinary day, your bra should only be washed after three to four wears. In between washings, however, you should run your used brassieres in warm (not hot) water to loosen up the dirt and dead skin. Let it air-dry for another use.
