Rajo Laurel may describe his personal style as “safe and practical,” but that’s only because he pours all of his creativity into his work. According to the fashion designer, he sticks to his navy blue polo and jeans primarily because “it's really not about what I wear; it's about what I make and create.”

And, really, what creations they are! One look at his collections, past and present, and you’ll agree that Rajo knows exactly what he’s doing. In fact, he has known it since he was 10 or 11, “drawing, cutting fabric, sewing for hours and hours and hours, not even minding the time.” Clearly, Rajo, with his God-given talent and experience, knows women; he knows what will work for you and what will most likely backfire.

The renowned designer gamely sat down for a chat with FN at the Ariel Color & Style event, and we took the opportunity to ask him for tips on how to end the year 2012 with a bang and to welcome the year 2013 dressed better than ever. Here, his advice on how to dress well:
