Getting a Brazilian wax is an intimate experience: You're naked from the waist down, and you have to trust a stranger to pull out e-v-e-r-y single hair from your vajayjay. It sounds painful because it really is.

While there are no tricks invented yet that will make a Brazilian wax painless, it's comforting to know that its pain level depends on your tolerance, the kind of wax used, and the attendant's technique. To prove our point, we went ahead and tried five salons to see whose service was the most pleasant and cost-efficient.

Lay Bare Brazilian Wax

Price: P500

Location: 5F Building B, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong (For other branches, click here)

Experience: Their wax was at room temperature so there was no "shock" factor once it was applied. The hair removal process was also tolerable because they pulled the hair out in smaller sections. For the price of the service, we're definitely going back here!

Waxbar Brazilian Wax

Price: P530

Location: 2F 39 Malingap St., Teachers Village, Quezon City

Experience: We loved how each room looked very clean and high-end. As for the session itself, it was the fastest we've ever had20 minutes. So if you're a busy girl who lives up in the North, head to this place whenever you need a quick tidying up down there!

Hey Sugar's Dulce De Brazilian

Price: P590 (cold wax); P830 (hot wax)

Location: GF UP Town Center, Katipunan Rd., Quezon City (For other branches, click here)

Experience: We love how their wax, powder, and soothing oil are all made from organic ingredients like sugar and coconut oil. Their sugar wax has calamansi extract to help brighten the nether regions, and it's edible, too!

BeesWax Brazilian Wax

Price: P740

Location: GF, SM Hypermarket Pasig (For other branches, click here)

Experience: While the staff was nice, we couldn't help but feel like they rushed us through our sessions. They didn't even count to three before pulling the wax off.

Strip's XXXX Strip (All Off) Regular Wax

Price: P1,598

Location: 5F Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong (For other branches, click here)

Experience: Three things stood out to us while getting a Brazilian wax at Strip: One, the chocolate-scented wax smelled delicious; two, their technicians were so profesh that we felt comfortable the entire time; and three, the whole process was over in 30 minutes. This is a great place to go to if you want to *splurge*.
