1. It's high-maintenance.
When you change the color of your hair, you have to know that is calls for monthly root touch-ups, nourishing salon treatments, and new hair products.

2. The upkeep can be expensive.
Although root touch-ups can be as low as P1,500, you still have to do this every month. Salon treatments may also cost thousands if you want to keep your dyed 'do in perfect shape.

3. You need new and special hair products to care for it.
Sulfate-free shampoos and color-freezing conditioners are needed to stop your hair from getting brittle and brassy.

4. It fades.
Sadly, nothing lasts forever, especially when it's artificial! The color will naturally fade. You can try purple shampoo and color gloss salon treatments to maintain its vibrancy.

5. It can damage your strands.
The chemicals used to alter your hair's color can be rough on your hair. Bleaching, for example, strips away the color and moisture of the hair—you definitely need to provide extra TLC for bottle blonde strands.

6. The color on the box or on the chart may have a different effect on you.
If you're buying boxed hair dye, don't expect the results to be similar with the model's. Your base color and undertones aren't probably the same with the model's. Instead, check the numbered shades on top of the box to figure out the closest color result.

7. You need to consider your skin tone.
The general rule in skin tone-complementing hair color is that if you've got warm undertones, like most Pinays do, stick to neutral ashy or cool shades. Cool-toned gals can embrace caramel, sun-kissed hues to warm up their skin. But of course, you can always ask your hairstylist for expert opinion.

8. You may need to change your makeup.

When you've got lighter strands, your old makeup color scheme may be too bland or flat on your face. Lighter hair calls for more defined makeup: Make sure your eyebrows' color closely resembles your dyed hair. Add color to your cheeks and lips to avoid looking washed out. A new colored 'do can actually open doors to wonderful makeup experiments! It'll be more fun, right?
