With summer well underway, many of us have yet to burn off all the holiday goodies we devoured. Fret not, your weekend getaway on the beach can still produce Instagram-worthy snapshots without the need for Photoshop, Here's how to cheat your way to a slimmer face without having to load your face with product needed for contouring.

Add a hint of pink

Contouring is all about creating depth, definition and shadows to create an illusion. The trouble with it is that it takes a long time and tons of products to achieve sculpted cheeks perfectly. One tried and tested way of magically making those extra pounds disappear is by sweeping on some blush.

The trick is to simply elongate the face: Sweep on some blush higher that you normally would on your apples. This draws the attention upwards, which then slenderizes your face shape and creates higher cheekbones.

Try: Bobbi Brown Blush Duo in Peony and Tawny, P2,900, at SM Megamall and Rustan's branches.

Line your eyes

Eyeliner application can in fact create a simmer face if it is angled higher. Like the blush application, aiming for a higher angle will draw the attention of people upwards that lends a slimming effect.

To create this look, refrain from following the natural eye shape, instead the line must extend from the highest point, right above the iris leading towards the ear. The result should produce a flat line that is parallel to the face rather than running downwards. You can also add a feline flick for flirty and wide-awake eyes.

Try: Browhaus Precision Eyeliner, P750,
at Serendra, SM Megamall, and Greenbelt.

Strobe it

A well-placed highlighter can do wonders to the shape of the face. Before you reach into your kit for your favorite, opt for a high shine alternative, one that can be seen from outerspace.

Place some above your cheekbone and sweep towards the temples. Do not forget to add some on the tip of the nose, the bridge, as well as on the center of the chin to create dimension that will instantly decrease any face puffiness. Avoid putting any of the highlighter on your temples as it will simply create a wider-looking face, and will defeat the entire purpose of the technique.

Try: Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette, P875, at SM department stores.
